University Hosts 'Sandkum' Volunteer Preparation Course
King Khalid University recently hosted the activities of the 1440 AH volunteer preparation course 'Sandkum', which lasted for three days starting on the 15th Ramadan. 16 governmental and private institutions alongside a number of university employees participated. The meeting was held under the patronage of Academic Development and Quality Vice Rector, Dr. Merzin Al-Shahrani, at the main campus.
Dean of Community Service and Continuous Education, Dr. Omar Alwan Ageel, explained that the purpose of the program is the development of team members in order to meet the stated objectives. He then followed by welcoming the program participants and attendees, stressing the value of the outcomes to the region.
The program included a paper by the Dean of Academic Development and Quality, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Hajri, in which he discussed 'Volunteer Charisma'. This was followed by a presentation that discussed the values of volunteer work and social communication skills delivered by Ali Asiri.
Eng. Marikh Al-Shahrani also discussed the preservation of the environment, parks, tourist sites, and contributions needed to support security in the region. On the same note, Mr. Abdulrahman Al-Shahrani spoke about the role of the Asir Police, which includes safety, organizational procedures, and maintaining public manners. Of noteworthy mention, the program also offered CPR and first aid training by the Saudi Red Crescent Authority.
King Khalid University seeks through this program to help achieve the Kingdom's 2030 vision through the preparation of 400 volunteers (in addition to its current 500 volunteer trainees) supervised by the Deanship of Community Service and Continuous Education.
