The "Mawhiba Academic Enrichment Program 2025" officially kicked off its activities at King Khalid University. Organized by the King Abdulaziz and His Companions Foundation for Giftedness and Creativity (Mawhiba) in partnership with the Deanship of Student Affairs at the university, the three-week program brings together over 130 male and female students from various regions across the Kingdom.
Dr. Ali Al-Qahtani, Dean of Student Affairs, expressed his appreciation for Mawhiba's trust in the university. He welcomed the participants and commended the scientific momentum the program generates each year. Dr. Al-Qahtani emphasized the Deanship's commitment to providing a stimulating educational environment and comprehensive logistical support, ensuring students gain maximum benefit from the program's scientific and skill-based units, which are overseen by accredited academics and experts.
Dr. Taha Al-Qahtani, the program head at the university, welcomed the gifted students, expressing his delight at the start of this new summer edition. He affirmed that the program was designed using global methodologies to enhance students' scientific and practical competencies and refine their personal skills, preparing them for distinguished participation both inside and outside the Kingdom.
Dr. Al-Qahtani explained that each study day is divided into six hours: four hours dedicated to the scientific curriculum and two hours for developing 21st-century skills. This is all supervised by an elite group of specialists in fields such as data science, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital forensic investigation, and a chemical applications unit.
The program aims to create an enriching environment that enables students to interact with their gifted peers and engage in scientific activities that broaden their horizons and help shape their future paths, allowing them to invest their summer vacation in productive scientific and structured activities.
The schedule also includes field trips and cultural activities that contribute to the students' personal development and foster initiative. These activities will take place between the 4th and 22nd of Muharram at the university city campus in Al-Fara'a for male students and at the university city campus in Guraiger for female students.
The program targets male and female students in the third year of intermediate school and the first and second years of secondary school who have been nominated by Mawhiba as gifted students nationwide.
