The university endowments were launched through well-considered steps, which included forming a higher founding committee, hosting a distinguished group of endowment stakeholders, receiving the first donations, establishing the General Secretariat, drafting the strategic plan, and forming the Board of Trustees and the University Endowment Investment Committee. This marked the cornerstone of an ambitious endowment project serving education and society. Our journey began on Wednesday, 2 Sha'ban 1439 AH, corresponding to April 18, 2018, during a ceremony sponsored by His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz, then Governor of the Asir Region and Honorary President of the University Endowments, and attended by His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the current Honorary President.

    o Developing sustainable, high-quality investment.
o Achieving excellence in the financial and administrative performance of the endowment.
o Developing effective partnerships with various sectors of society.
o Leading endowment initiatives in achieving social responsibility.
o Supporting innovative, high-quality scientific research to achieve the knowledge economy.

The General Secretariat of King Khalid University Endowments is responsible for the following:

  • Management and Development of Endowment Assets:

Operating endowment projects and investing in diverse sectors and initiatives such as education, healthcare, real estate, and technology, in order to achieve sustainable returns.

  • Attracting Supporters and Resource Development:

Building strategic relationships with all supporters, including businessmen and businesswomen, regulatory bodies, and donor organizations, and developing innovative tools to attract and sustain financial and institutional support.

King Khalid University Endowments are considered one of the leading initiatives aimed at enhancing financial sustainability and supporting the advancement of education and scientific research in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. These endowments were launched with an ambitious vision to rank among the top ten endowment institutions in the Kingdom by 2030, through the development of innovative endowment projects that serve the knowledge economy and contribute to sustainable development.

The university’s endowment pathways span multiple fields such as education, healthcare, and tourism, reflecting the university’s commitment to the objectives of the endowment and its approved areas of expenditure as stipulated in the endowment deed issued by the General Court in Abha, as well as the bylaws approved by the Board of Trustees and the conditions set by the donors.

Endowments, in their legitimate Islamic concept, represent an ever-flowing source that never runs dry, emanating from the depth of our religious commitment to the responsibility of giving. They constitute a fundamental pillar in strengthening the academic and educational journey, particularly as the Vision of our beloved Kingdom 2030 emphasizes the encouragement of endowments and the qualification of those working within them.

They are a renewable resource that embodies the meanings of sustainability in supporting development and serving society in the fullest sense, especially when they are directed toward the most beneficial and most needed development projects.

Endowments are a civilizational vessel that preserves generosity and extends its impact across generations, remaining a solid foundation in shaping the future. Based on this role, the General Secretariat of the University Endowments works to develop the endowment ecosystem, expand its investment fields, and ensure its efficient, transparent, and automated management, thereby contributing to the support of educational, research, and community programs and projects. This also reinforces the university’s mission and strategy in alignment with the strategy of the General Authority for Awqaf, so that we may create hope and leave a lasting impact in the endowment sector.

We ask Almighty Allah to bless these efforts, fulfill aspirations, and grant reward to all supporters and those working in these endowments.
