
Minister of Communications and IT Visits King Khalid University - King Khalid University
His Excellency, Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Al-Swaha, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, visited King Khalid University while attending the second Asir Investment Forum. During his visit, he reviewed a number of pioneering and technological initiatives and innovative outputs presented by the university, represented by the Entrepreneurship Center, the College of Computer Science, and several research and digital entities. The visit was attended by His Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Faleh bin Rajaallah Al-Solami, alongside several university officials.
The visit included a tour to various departments and centers affiliated with the university. He reviewed the pioneering projects and outputs of the Entrepreneurship Center, which reflect the university's efforts in supporting technology entrepreneurship and enabling innovation among its students and staff. His Excellency also attended introductory presentations by the Deanship of Electronic Services, the Artificial Intelligence Center, and the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Center for Environmental Research and Natural Resources Sustainability. These entities showcased their prominent projects and initiatives and discussed avenues for future cooperation with the Ministry.
The visit also featured a presentation of a group of pioneering projects implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology as part of the "Code Lab" program. Additionally, the launch of the "Innovation Incubator" was announced, which is set to be inaugurated soon in partnership with the Ministry, aiming to support startups and accelerate the growth of innovative ideas within the university environment.
His Excellency also visited the College of Computer Science and reviewed various student projects in the fields of artificial intelligence, Internet of Things, cybersecurity, and augmented reality, in addition to robotics and drone camps, and technological initiatives in partnership with the Ministry of Communications.
During his tour, His Excellency affirmed his support for empowering pioneering projects at the university, praising the quality of outputs and the integration of efforts between academic and technical sectors. He expressed his anticipation for enhanced cooperation between the Ministry and the university in the fields of innovation, research, and development.
