A faculty member of the Malaysian Islamic University, Mr. Osman Mohamed Osman has proposed a research project under the title “King Khalid University’s project for the studies and researches about rumor in the Arab world”. The suggestion has been presented in a worksheet during the first session of the International Conference for Media and Rumor, which is currently being sponsored by, and taking place at,  King Khalid University.

The proposal is to set up a project by which to conduct comprehensive studies of all things that are related to rumor as it is a social phenomenon, especially if we realize that there are no studies of this kind in the Arab world. The proposer proposed that King Khalid University could be the headquarter for five years, "so that we can conduct a proper comprehensive research - even from studies of dissertations for Masters and PhD degrees - about the phenomenon of rumors in the Arab world. "In this case, we will be capable of enriching the cognitive domain with research and studies in this regard, in addition to achieving cognitive integration among the university, the community, and country institutions".

It is expected that this project will turn the University into a regional and global center for studies and researches about rumors.
