On behalf of His Excellency, the Minister of Education, His Excellency the President of King Khalid University, Prof. Faleh bin Rajaallah Al-Solami, chaired the ninth meeting of the University Council for the academic year 1446. The meeting was attended by the Secretary-General of the Council of University Affairs, Prof. Bassam bin Abdullah Al-Bassam, and members of the University Council.
The Vice-President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research and Secretary of the University Council, Prof. Hamid bin Majdou Al-Qarni, explained that the Council reviewed several topics on its agenda during its ninth session and made the necessary decisions regarding them. The Council approved the admission mechanism and the proposed number of male and female students for admission to bachelor's and diploma programs for the academic year 1447 AH, and also endorsed the details of the academic calendar for the academic year 1447/1448 AH.
The Council's recommendations included approving scholarships, scholarship extensions, and termination of scholarships, as well as the attachment of a number of demonstrators and lecturers. Additionally, a number of decisions regarding service extensions, secondments, delegations, and appointments for faculty members were approved.
The Council approved the establishment of a research chair named "King Khalid University Chair for Sustainability" and another chair named "King Khalid University Chair for Philosophy." It also approved a number of new graduate programs, in addition to endorsing the university's extracurricular activity plan for the upcoming academic year.
The Council also approved several amendments to the executive rules and endorsed the recommendations of the Review and Investment Committees, in addition to the recommendations of the Council of the Institute of Studies and Consulting Services.
