On 3 May 2020, the Center for Persons with Disabilities delivered a virtual awareness activity on Twitter, celebrating the Gulf Day of Learning Disabilities. The Gulf Day of Learning Disabilities aims to raise awareness about how to detect learning difficulties at an early stage, how to deal with them, and the services available for students who suffer from learning difficulties in the light of experiences.

This activity garnered significant attention and trended under the tag #The_Gulf_Day_of_Learning_Disabilities. A number of academics, specialists and prominent special education teachers participated in this activity. The participants shared insights on how to effectively teach students with learning disabilities, noting that with timely intervention students with learning disabilities can reach their full potential.

Center for Persons with Disabilities Supervisor, Dr. Amer Ali Jaafar, explained that this activity aims to support people with learning disabilities, increase societal awareness, and introduce the characteristics of people with learning disabilities. Additionally, he explained that every child learns differently and parents need to regularly track the progress of their child. He ended his keynote delivery by mentioning that his team will organize a number of courses for students who are interested in this topic over the summer, which is part of the recently launched Mobaderoon project.

Center for Persons with Disabilities Supervisor's Assistant, Dr. Sirine Talal Bakri, said that this participation stems from the Center’s interest in students with learning disabilities. It is also to spread awareness among parents and teachers about their needs, how to deal with them, and how to develop their abilities and skills.
