Absher service to complete passport transactions at university

With the activation of e-government, and as a means to provide better services to citizens and residents by using modern technology, the Directorate General of Passports in Asir region visited King Khalid University to register and activate the “Absher” service for its employees, to provide technical support and answer all submitted inquiries regarding the system and how to deal with it.  

The Director of the Division of Information Technology at the Directorate General of Passports in Asir region, Capt. Abdul Majeed Faleh Al-Qahtani, clarified that it  is to become available to the employees of the university and for them to take advantage of the services of Absher by registering and activating their e-services. Services, such as issues and the cancellation of an exit and re-entry visa, obtaining final exit visas, travel permits, the issuance and renewal of residence ID’s. In addition, staff are able to access user data, travel history, transfer sponsorship, and modify their profession. Soon, the program will also allow the application and activation and the issuance and renewal of Saudi passports.

 Regarding the mechanisms of registration, he said, "Before employees benefit from the services of Absher, they must register first, free of charge, at the website of the Ministry of Interior or at that of the Directorate General of Passports and then activate registration to prove the identity through available means. He added that the Directorate facilitates the process by providing activation appliances inside the university to verify identity via fingerprints and so take advantage of self-services.

Captain Al-Qahtani hinted at the intention of the women's section at the Directorate General of Passports in Asir region to make a similar visit to the women’s University branch in order for them to take advantage of the availability of registration and service activation and to complete the Absher transactions of the Saudi passport Directorate.
