In a new great achievement, Dr. Siham Musa Al Haidar obtained the King Khalid University's Excellence Award in its 8th cycle for the year 1443AH in the field of education - faculty member branch. Al Haider won the award for her efforts to use modern teaching methods and effectively incorporate them into university courses, in addition to engaging students as an integral part of the educational process, and rely on critical thinking skills when evaluating.
Dr. Al-Haidar, holds a BA in English and a master’s degree in Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) from King Khalid University. She also holds another master’s degree in Linguistics and a Ph.D. in the same field from the University of Florida, USA. Further, She obtained a certificate from the Women’s Leadership Development Program at the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford, England, in the year 2020.
Al-Haidar is currently the Dean of the College of Sciences and Arts in Rijal Al-Amaa, the Executive Director of the Applied College Branch in Rijal Al-Amaa, and an assistant professor in the English Department at the university. She also has teaching experience for more than 15 years, and is interested in theoretical, social & applied linguistics, in addition to the linguistic scene, as well as in semiotics, pragmatics, and the acquisition of the second language.
Al-Haidar is distinguished by her numerous scientific pieces of research, and among the most prominent of her recent publications is a research dealing with the semiotics of Covid 19, trademarks, in addition to the indications & implications of social distancing in the pandemic period, as well as other research published in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Al Haidar, affirms that curiosity is key to knowledge, and she ascertains to every student that "Science is not without skepticism, and the world is not without assumption", and she continues by saying that "Science is a question whose answer is research", indicating that learners have to combine the two, skepticism & assumption, to find the answer, which dispels all doubts and uncertainties through the process of research. Additionally, she explained that the educational stage for students is precious, in which they go through various phases of success & failure, motivation & frustration, where they discover themselves and their abilities.
Dr. Siham Al-Haidar is one of the academic leaders at the university and she is renowned for her work in the field of education, conducting scientific research as an academic duty & scientific commitment to be a model in carrying out national duty and achieving the ambitious vision of 2030.
