A research conducted by Textile and Clothing Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of King Khalid University (KKU), Dr. Wafa Mohamed Samaha, revealed the importance of improving children's taste in choosing their clothes using the computer which contributes to providing them with some information about the basis of design. The research is titled, "the effectiveness of a proposed program for improving children's taste in choosing their clothes using the computer." In the research, the researcher used both descriptive analytical approach and the quasi-experimental approach. She also used three tools: a measure list to measure the level of clothing taste for children, the proposed program by using the computer, and an achievement test, to measure the cognitive side (remembrance, understanding, application) in the proposed program.

According to the research, taste is defined in the language as "the behavior that is linked to discretionary provisions issued by the taster due to his / her feeling of enjoyment of certain topics. Taste is also defined as an emotional state based on the aesthetic perception process of the phenomena that is existing in reality and in the works of art." It is also pointed in the research that the taste is usually the result of recognizing things from an aesthetic point, the extent of experience or educational level and social level, as well as personal values and trends. According to the research, clothes have an important role in individuals' lives. Clothes reflect how a person recognizes himself / herself and his / her personality. In addition, wearing specific clothes is considered a means of aesthetic and artistic expression, and the taste of the individual in choosing clothes is affected by idols and those whom the individual loves and respects. The research also confirmed that clothing taste is defined as "a reflection of the personal sense with its technical components, and the application of this sense on the chosen clothes. It is also defined as the ability to interact with the aesthetic values in the objects and the formation of right aesthetic impression, as well as confronting aesthetic illiteracy in order to awaken the individual's sense to become aware of the surrounding aesthetic side"

The research also revealed that clothes are the first key to one's personality and the best evidence on it. Clothes have an important role and influence in individuals' lives, which may reflect on their personalities, their work, and their relationships with others. Furthermore, social life requires taking care of one's appearance because it indicates how appropriate his / her taste is. It is also recommended, according to the research, elegance to be natural not exaggerated, hence clothes value is estimated according to the way they are worn.

Mainly, the research aimed at preparing a proposed program, by using the computer in improving children's taste in choosing clothes. The research has additional goals which include identifying children's needs of clothes from their point of view and from their vision, but in line with a correct scientific basis, preparing a program using the computer to improve children's taste in choosing their clothes in line with their tendencies, desires, traditions, and needs. Other goals of the research included providing children with needed information and skills about elements and basis of design through the use of Computer. Finally, the goal of the research was to build a measure of the aspects of taste, and to build a cognitive test to the information related to the field of clothing taste.

The research is important because it contributes to the possibility of using modern technology, and benefiting from them in preparing educational and training programs for children. Particularly, the proposed program contributes in improving children's taste in choosing their clothes, and then raising public taste, in general. The research also suggested paving the way for the children to find a positive and effective role by recognizing correct attitudes to tastes of clothes, and by equipping them with enough confidence and self-reliance. The research also aimed at taking advantage of computer potentialities in terms of accuracy and speed, in the delivery of information and skills for children. The research also sought to get a measure of taste of clothes so as to see if it can be used in estimating children's level of optimal choice for their clothes. Moreover, this research gave a model for some of the knowledge associated with the field of fashion design.

The outcomes of the research found a statistically significant differences between the mean scores of children of the experimental group in the two applications (before and after), on the taste measure of clothes (design, function, lines, colors). The research recommended teaching similar types of this program in activity classrooms in school, so that students can acquire information and needed knowledge. The research also recommended training children on using modern technology in education, especially computers applications. Parents and teachers should set a good and ideal example for the child in arranging clothes to portray elegance. The research also suggested conducting extensive studies on children in an attempt to find out their preferences and desires regarding clothes, and how to reach the stage of actual taste in choosing their clothes.
