Under the patronage and in the presence of Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Asir Region and Chairman of the Asir Development Authority, a ceremony was held to mark the World Health Organization’s accreditation of King Khalid University as a Healthy University City, among four healthy cities in the Asir Region. The ceremony was attended by His Excellency the Minister of Education, Mr. Yousef Al-Benyan; His Excellency the Minister of Health, Mr. Fahad bin Abdulrahman Al-Jalajel; His Excellency Dr. Majid bin Ibrahim Al-Fayyadh, Chief Executive Officer of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre; His Excellency Prof. Dr. Faleh bin Rajaa Allah Al-Solami, President of King Khalid University; and a number of officials and leaders from the government, health, and education sectors.
His Highness Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Asir Region, received the accreditation certificates for four healthy cities in the region from His Excellency the Minister of Health, Mr. Fahad bin Abdulrahman Al-Jalajel. The accredited cities included Abha, Muhayil Asir, Tareeb, and King Khalid University. The ceremony took place at the University City in Al-Fara'a, and the accreditation was granted after meeting 80 of the Healthy Cities criteria adopted by the World Health Organization.
The accreditation of King Khalid University as a Healthy University City is an extension of the University’s efforts to create an environment that supports health and quality of life, promote preventive practices, and raise health awareness, thereby contributing to the establishment of healthy lifestyles and the development of a university environment that encourages prevention and well-being.
This accreditation reflects the University’s commitment to strengthening integration with relevant health and community entities and expanding the impact of its health and preventive initiatives, in support of the region’s and the Kingdom’s aspirations toward healthier communities and a higher quality of life.
