King Khalid University, represented by the Deanship of Student Affairs and the College of Applied Medical Sciences in Khamis Mushait, launched yesterday, Sunday, a specialized training program in digital dentistry technologies as part of the 2026 summer training programs. The program will continue for ten training days and aims to qualify practitioners and those interested in the latest applications of digital dentistry through hands-on training in digital smile design and digital manufacturing.
The program was inaugurated in the presence of the Dean of Student Affairs at the university, Professor Saad bin Saeed Al-Qahtani, and the Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences in Khamis Mushait, Dr. Yousef Ibrahim Al-Zahrani. They reviewed the progress of the program, the training facilities, and the digital dentistry technology laboratories, and observed the practical training activities conducted on the first day.
The Dean of the College of Applied Medical Sciences in Khamis Mushait, Dr. Yousef Al-Zahrani, emphasized the importance of the program in linking educational outcomes with the requirements of modern professional practice. He noted that the program is part of the university's and college's direction toward providing specialized applied training programs that contribute to developing the skills of students, practitioners, and those interested in modern technological fields in dentistry. It also enhances the use of digital technologies in developing professional practices in line with the rapid transformations taking place in the healthcare sector.
The program director, Dr. Abdulmajeed Aksha, said that the first day of the program included four training activities distributed between theoretical and practical components. These included two scientific lectures addressing modern technologies in digital dentistry and the components of the digital workflow, from scanning through to manufacturing, in addition to two practical workshops in which trainees carried out a number of hands-on applications using laboratory equipment. These included working with intraoral scanners, design software, and equipment associated with digital manufacturing.
He added that the program aims to provide a specialized knowledge and skills base through a series of workshops, scientific lectures, and practical applications covering multiple areas of digital dentistry technologies, giving participants the opportunity for direct training on the equipment and technologies used in this field.
The program witnessed strong interest, with the number of registered students exceeding 150 male and female students, while 30 students were accepted according to the capacity of the laboratories. This ensures the quality of practical training and provides accepted participants with the opportunity to train on the equipment and technologies used within the program.
Throughout its training days, the program continues to provide specialized content combining theoretical and practical aspects, contributing to preparing participants to work with digital dentistry technologies and enhancing their readiness for the requirements of modern professional practice.
