King Khalid University, represented by the Department of Media and Communication at the College of Arts and Humanities, signed an academic and training memorandum of understanding with the SPA Academy for News Training, with the aim of enhancing integration between the academic and professional sectors, developing media competencies, and supporting training, qualification, and scientific research in line with the rapid developments in the media sector.
The agreement was signed on behalf of the university by the Head of the Department of Media and Communication, Dr. Ali bin Abdullah Al Zuhair, while it was signed on behalf of the academy by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Tariq Mohammed Al Sheikh.
The Head of the Department of Media and Communication at the university, Dr. Ali bin Abdullah Al Zuhair, explained that the agreement included several areas of joint cooperation, most notably cooperation between the two sides in training and research projects, the participation of faculty members in reviewing curricula and training courses, in addition to supporting their participation in research and development work and local and international training programs, as well as exchanging academic and professional expertise between the two entities.
Dr. Al Zuhair also explained that the agreement included supporting student participation in meetings, conferences, seminars, and workshops, involving them in summer camps and practical programs, encouraging them to participate in various media competitions and programs, in addition to supporting student clubs’ participation in joint activities and programs.
The agreement also stipulated support for implementing joint programs by preparing facilities for carrying out shared programs, in addition to exchanging scientific, technical, and technological expertise between both parties.
This agreement comes as an extension of the efforts of both parties to build a qualitative partnership that enhances integration between academic qualification and professional practice in order to keep pace with the continuous developments in the media sector.
