On behalf of the Minister of Education and Chairman of the Universities Affairs Council, the President of King Khalid University, Prof. Falleh bin Rajallah Al-Solamy, chaired today, Wednesday, the seventh meeting of the University Council for the academic year 1447 AH, in the presence of the Secretary-General of the Universities Affairs Council, Prof. Nasser bin Mohammed Al-Aqili, and members of the University Council.
The Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research and Secretary of the University Council, Prof. Hamed bin Majdoua Al-Qarni, explained that the council reviewed the topics listed on its agenda and took the necessary decisions regarding them. These included approving the details of the university academic calendar for the academic year 1448/1449 AH, approving the establishment of the Bachelor of Science in Architecture and Building Sciences Program and the Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture Program at the College of Architecture and Planning, in addition to establishing the Bachelor of Science in Robotics Engineering and Interdisciplinary Artificial Intelligence Program jointly between the College of Engineering and the College of Computer Science.
The recommendations also included approval of the restructuring of the Scientific Council for its upcoming term beginning at the start of the year 1448 AH, approval of the promotion of a number of university employees to higher ranks, approval of the recommendations of the Investment Committee included in the minutes of its second meeting for the fiscal year 2026, and adoption of the recommendations of the Council of the Institute of Studies and Consulting Services related to contracting for the implementation of several projects, in addition to approving the acceptance of a number of donations submitted to the Educational Scholarships Project.
The council also approved the scholarship assignment, extension, termination, and attachment of a number of teaching assistants and lecturers, the utilization of the services of some faculty members for the academic year 1448/1449 AH, as well as approvals related to early retirement and the assignment, appointment, and transfer of services of several faculty members.
