His Excellency the President of King Khalid University, Prof. Dr. Faleh bin Rajaa Allah Al-Sulami, recently met with members of the Entrepreneurship Ambassadors Initiative from male and female students of the University. The initiative, launched by the Entrepreneurship Center in its first edition, aims to empower national talents and promote a culture of innovation and entrepreneurship within the university environment.
During the meeting, Al-Sulami emphasized the importance of investing in student capabilities, highlighting the role of initiative members in spreading the culture of entrepreneurship within colleges and enhancing students’ awareness of entrepreneurial opportunities.
He explained that the University places special emphasis on supporting the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem by providing programs and enablers and strengthening partnerships with relevant entities, thereby creating a stimulating environment that enables students to develop their capabilities and enhance their skills in innovation-related fields.
For her part, the Director of the Initiative, Prof. Dr. Lamia bint Saeed Al-Qahtani, explained that the initiative aims to build student leaders capable of promoting the culture of entrepreneurship, enabling students to identify entrepreneurial opportunities and develop their ideas into viable projects, thereby strengthening the presence of innovation within the university environment.
Al-Qahtani stated that the selection of ambassadors was conducted through a multi-stage nomination process, which included opening applications, reviewing and filtering submissions based on specific criteria, and conducting evaluation interviews focusing on leadership skills, entrepreneurial characteristics, and commitment, with the aim of selecting qualified candidates capable of effectively representing the initiative.
She indicated that 44 ambassadors were selected representing 18 colleges for a duration of two academic semesters. They were distributed across two main tracks: College Ambassadors and Strategic Ambassadors. College Ambassadors are responsible for spreading entrepreneurship culture, introducing programs and opportunities, attracting interested students, organizing events and activities within colleges, and engaging directly with students.
Strategic Ambassadors, on the other hand, assume leadership roles at the University level, including supporting initiative planning, contributing to program development, analyzing student needs, proposing developmental initiatives, supervising College Ambassadors, and acting as a link between administration and College Ambassadors.
Al-Qahtani confirmed that the initiative contributes to identifying and supporting entrepreneurial talents, strengthening communication between the Center and college students, and building student leaders capable of creating impact, in line with Saudi Vision 2030 in supporting innovation.
