His Excellency the President of King Khalid University, Prof. Faleh bin Rajallah Al-Solami, has issued an administrative decree to establish and structure the university's Innovation System. This system is administratively linked to the Vice Presidency for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research. The goal is to develop an integrated institutional framework to organize innovation activities and link them to applied scientific research, research infrastructure, and knowledge transfer.
This move aligns with the university's direction toward developing research and innovation and enhancing applied scientific research activities. This contributes to producing research outputs and transforming them into scientific applications with economic and societal impact.
The Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Hamed bin Majdou' Al-Qarni, explained that the system aims to enable research outputs to transition into applications that enhance the university's shift toward an integrated institutional model for managing innovation. He noted that the system includes the Advisory Committee for Development and Innovation Strategies, the Intellectual Property and Patent Office, central laboratories, and research centers. It also focuses on protecting scientific outputs through intellectual property systems and creating pathways for technology transfer and marketing innovations. Dr. Muhammad bin Saeed Al-Qahtani has been appointed as the supervisor of the Innovation System.
