Al-Kawthar Health Charity has launched a health program titled "Kingdom’s Guests: Fasting and Health," targeting international students studying at King Khalid University. This initiative is part of the "Ajawid 4" project, which aims to promote health and prevention among this group.
The General Supervisor of the General Administration for International Students, Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Al-Khubaya, explained that this program provides specialized health, preventive, and therapeutic services for international students, implemented through a strategic partnership with King Khalid University.
He added that the program, held at the University City in Al-Fara’a, aims to provide integrated health, social, and awareness services that enhance the quality of life for international students during the Holy Month of Ramadan. It seeks to achieve a sustainable health impact that reflects the Kingdom's leadership in caring for its guests. The initiative witnessed several health and awareness activities in the presence of the Charity’s Executive Director, Prof. Jubran Marei Al-Qahtani, and the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Saad bin Saeed Al-Qahtani.
The number of international students who received health services by the second day of the program’s launch reached 303 students. These services were provided through 7 specialized clinics; 70 students were referred for medical follow-up, and 5 emergency cases were transported to the University Hospital. The program involved a medical, technical, and administrative team of 72 volunteers from the charity.
The program included lectures, workshops, and advisory tips provided by experts in public health and nutrition, aiming to spread a culture of health prevention among students, especially given their diverse cultural and dietary backgrounds. Educational segments included methodologies for healthy and balanced fasting, and how to deal with new dietary habits during the month of fasting.
Family Medicine Consultant Dr. Majid bin Mohammed Al-Saleh delivered a lecture titled "Concepts of Success and Professionalism," focusing on building self-success, enhancing confidence and balance, and the art of effective communication. Family Medicine Consultant Dr. Jaafar Al-Ghazwani presented a lecture on "Stress Management for International Students," highlighting the skill of achieving academic success in a new environment while enhancing psychological adaptation and building resilience. Meanwhile, the lecture "Enhancing Well-being through Ramadan," focused on investing in the holy month to build a healthier, happier, and more balanced life, was presented by Dr. Nasser bin Saeed Al-Suraie (physician and academic).
Participating students expressed their gratitude for this initiative, confirming that it helps them understand the health aspects of fasting and how to prepare their bodies during the period of study and academic activities. The program is considered an important addition to their educational experience in the Kingdom.
It is worth noting that this program is part of Al-Kawthar Health Charity’s efforts to provide therapeutic, preventive, and educational health services within the university community. It emphasizes the importance of interaction between health and academic institutions to serve international students of various nationalities studying at the university (numbering more than 3,000 students from over 100 countries), and to provide them with a safe educational and health environment.
