In the presence of His Excellency the President of King Khalid University, Prof. Faleh bin Rajallah Al-Solami, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the university organized a scientific meeting. The event hosted the Secretary-General of the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language, Prof. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi, along with several of the Academy's staff. The meeting took place at the Exhibition and Convention Center in the University City at Al-Fara’a, attended by university leaders, staff, students, and several representatives from the General Directorate of Education in the Aseer region.
The meeting featured a visual presentation that reviewed the efforts of the Department of Arabic Language and Literature and the Department of Teaching Arabic to Non-Native Speakers at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. It highlighted their scientific, research, and community contributions to serving the Arabic language and enhancing its presence within the academic environment.
The Secretary-General of the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language, Prof. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi, delivered a speech in which he expressed his appreciation for King Khalid University’s hosting of this meeting. He emphasized that the Academy's work is linked to Saudi Vision 2030 and seeks to solidify the presence of the Arabic language as a pillar of national identity and an extensive cognitive and cultural resource.
Dr. Al-Washmi noted that among the Academy's objectives is "strengthening the connection of people to their language and its culture, and activating the interest of teachers, families, children, and various institutions in their daily language, as we belong to the land where the Arabic language was born and where the Quran was revealed in a clear Arabic tongue."
The meeting included a concurrent panel discussion moderated by Prof. Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al-Mahsani, with the participation of several specialists from the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language team. During the session, the Director of the Language Policy Department, Dr. Khalid Al-Qousi, spoke on "The King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language and Language Planning," while the Director of the Education Department, Dr. Umama Al-Shanqiti, discussed "Innovative Tools for Teaching and Learning Arabic." Additionally, the Director of the Digital Dictionaries Department, Dr. Yahya Al-Latini, reviewed the topic of "Employing Arabic Intelligence Center Tools in Scientific Research." Scientific interventions were presented during the session covering the Academy's efforts in serving the Arabic language and its developmental paths, and several attendees shared ideas, suggestions, and inquiries.
In conclusion of the meeting, His Excellency the President of King Khalid University, Prof. Faleh bin Rajallah Al-Solami, honored the Secretary-General of the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language. Prof. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi presented a commemorative gift to His Excellency, and commemorative photos were taken to mark the occasion.
