King Khalid University concluded yesterday the scientific and discussion sessions of the Energy and Environment 2025 Conference, after two days featuring the participation of over 35 speakers and experts from more than 15 countries across 5 different continents. The conference was held under the generous patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Aseer Region and Chairman of its Development Authority, and was organized by the College of Engineering at the Exhibitions and Conventions Center in the University City in Al-Fara'a. The conference discussed future solutions and global trends towards more efficient and sustainable energy systems.

The first day marked the launch of the scientific program with an opening session where energy market expert Dr. Anas Al-Hajji delivered a lecture titled "Understanding Oil: Strategic, Political, and Economic Dimensions," addressing global transformations in oil markets and their repercussions. This was followed by the first main session, "Energy in Vision 2025," which reviewed scientific papers on net-zero emissions by 2060, the prospects of low-carbon hydrogen, and solar technologies in the Kingdom, in addition to a paper on global trends in energy consumption.

A discussion session was also held titled "The Future of Energy: Hydrogen, Artificial Intelligence, and Smart Storage Systems for a Sustainable World," with the participation of a number of experts who discussed the upcoming transformations in the energy sector and the technologies supporting the enhancement of storage system efficiency. The proceedings of the first day continued with the second main session, "Carbon Capture and Utilization," which included papers on assessing the energy performance of steel building structures, low-carbon refractory materials, and the applications of the Mileshtsinko Cycle in cooling and renewable energy. It concluded with a discussion session on "Net-Zero Emissions" and related carbon capture technologies and climate solutions.

On the second day, the conference featured a series of sessions focused on recycling topics, discussing trends in waste management and increasing resource utilization. This was followed by the third discussion session titled "Reinventing Waste: From Disposal to Circular Innovation in Cities and Industry," where discussions covered circular economy models and their applications in urban and industrial contexts. The events then continued with a fourth main session addressing the "Environmental Impact and Remediation Axis," followed by a fourth discussion session titled "Environmental Impact Remediation: Policies, Impact Assessment, and Sustainable Treatments," focusing on regulatory tools and applied solutions to mitigate environmental impacts.

In parallel, the third scientific session, "Environmental Impact and Waste Management," was held, witnessing discussions on a number of specialized papers on waste management and impact measurement. The poster area also hosted a display of visual research during the "Engineer's Day Exhibition." The scientific program for the main sessions concluded with the fifth session titled "Circular Economy and Smart Technologies Axis," which discussed the role of digital solutions and modern technologies in enhancing resource efficiency and improving circular economy outcomes.

Three simultaneous workshops were also held, addressing the role of the industry and mining sectors in achieving environmental sustainability, the integrated environmental complex system for waste management in Ha'il city, in addition to a workshop presented by the Energy and Water Academy. Meanwhile, the fifth discussion session, titled "Enabling a Circular Future: Smart Technologies and Resource Efficiency," concluded the day, discussing technological developments supporting the circular economy and resource management. This was followed by the final scientific session, "Circular Economy and Smart Technologies," which reviewed the latest applied research in this field.
