Among the World's Top 200 Universities in Three Fields: KKU Achieves Advanced Ranks in the Shanghai Ranking by Academic Subjects 2025 - King Khalid University

King Khalid University achieved an academic accomplishment by securing advanced positions in the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects (GRAS) for 2025. Three of its subjects were listed among the world's top 200 universities, confirming the development of its scientific programs and the enhancement of its research and innovation capabilities, in alignment with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, the University's Strategy 2030, and its growing role as a key enabler for the Aseer Development Strategy "Qimam wa Shiyam."

In detail, the University was ranked 101-150 globally in Mathematics and Energy Science and Engineering. It also ranked 151-200 globally in Metallurgical Engineering. The University continued its advanced global presence by ranking 201-300 in a number of subjects, including Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Instruments Science & Technology, Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dentistry & Oral Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Veterinary Sciences, and Water Resources.

The University also achieved the 301–400 rank in Materials Science and Engineering, and the 401–500 rank in Chemistry and Electrical & Electronic Engineering.

For his part, the University's Vice President for Postgraduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Hamed bin Majdou’ Al-Qarni, extended his thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the University President, Prof. Faleh bin Rajaallah Al-Sulami, for his continuous support and commitment to enhancing the scientific environment. He affirmed that these results reflect the academic and research excellence achieved by the University and its role in supporting innovative research projects that offer qualitative solutions serving the community and keeping pace with future national directions.

Dr. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Qahtani, Supervisor of the International Rankings Unit at the University, explained that this continuous progress in the Shanghai Ranking by Academic Subjects reflects the qualitative transformation the University is undergoing in its academic and research structure, affirming the ability of its scientific departments to compete globally in strategically impactful fields. He noted that the achieved results are the fruit of a comprehensive, systematic effort combining the development of academic programs, the enhancement of research efficiency, and the improvement of the quality of scientific outputs, indicating that the close cooperation between the International Rankings Unit and the colleges contributed to this advanced global presence.

Al-Qahtani added that the University adopts a data-driven scientific approach to track and analyze performance indicators, which provides greater opportunities for making precise decisions that ensure the sustainability of this excellence and raise the University's capacity to reach higher ranks in global classifications in the coming years. He emphasized that what was achieved this year is not an end in itself but an important milestone in an ambitious path where the University seeks to solidify its position among the world's best universities in various disciplines.
