King Khalid University Records Distinguished Presence at the First Conference for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at King Abdulaziz University - King Khalid University

King Khalid University achieved a remarkable presence at the First Conference and Exhibition for Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Saudi Universities, hosted by King Abdulaziz University (KAU) in Jeddah, after two of its innovations were nominated among the best 41 innovations out of more than 200 participating innovations from Saudi universities, and were displayed in the innovation zone dedicated to investors.

The nominations were for the innovation "Saudi Smart Biological Strain," presented by the Head of the Bee Research Center at the university, Prof. Hamed Al-Gharama. This innovation combines biotechnology and artificial intelligence to naturally and safely support immunity and resist pollutants. The second innovation was "BioScan Forensics," presented by Dr. Abeer bint Zaher Al-Almaei, which is an artificial intelligence device for rapidly and accurately analyzing biological forensic evidence in the field. The Director of the Entrepreneurship Center at the university, Dr. Majed Al-Aziman, also participated in a panel discussion titled: "Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Saudi Universities: A Future Vision," which addressed the role of universities in promoting the innovation ecosystem and building a sustainable knowledge economy.

Dr. Abeer bint Zaher Al-Almaei, Director of the Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property Commercialization Office, pointed out that the integration of efforts between the university and its research centers contributed to the development of several innovations and the application of some of them, including the commercialization of the "Jamal's Eyes" system for the Ministry of Transport and Traffic. Additionally, the university received requests for twinning from a number of Saudi universities to learn about its experience in developing the DocBI analysis tool. The conference also witnessed student participation from the university in the innovation track, through the "Air Medical Station" innovation by student Ziyad Khalid, and the "Tamashshi" innovation by student Shahad Musfer, in addition to showcasing the "Bee Sentinels" innovation related to detecting prohibited materials at ports.
