
KKU Organizes "Blue Initiative" Event to Enhance Women's Participation in Water Sustainability - King Khalid University
King Khalid University, represented by the Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Center for Environmental Research and Natural Resources Sustainability, organized an awareness event as part of the "Blue Initiative" at the Al-Fara'a university campus. The event highlighted the role of women in raising awareness of water issues and natural resource sustainability. It was attended by over 150 female students from various scientific disciplines, in partnership with the College of Science Club, the Sustainability Club, and the Central Grants Club for female students.
During interactive discussion sessions with students and faculty members, the director of the center, Dr. Rahma Nasser Al-Jarees, explained that the event aimed to empower Saudi women in the environmental and water fields. She praised the participants' engagement and their ability to present innovative ideas and effective contributions during the various activities, which reflects advanced environmental awareness and a readiness to assume social responsibility for water issues. She added that the discussions served as a platform for exchanging experiences and showcasing student initiatives that contribute to establishing a culture of environmental sustainability.
The event also included an accompanying exhibition, presentations, and innovative student initiatives, as well as the distribution of interactive awareness publications. This allowed the students to actively participate and tangibly demonstrate their role in the initiative.
Al-Jarees affirmed that the "Blue Initiative" will continue with practical steps in the coming period through training programs and community projects aimed at enhancing environmental sustainability and building a sustainable future, in alignment with the directions of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture and in achievement of the environmental sustainability goals of Saudi Vision 2030.
