King Khalid University, represented by the College of Medicine, will organize the second International Conference on Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice under the theme of "Bridging the Gap and Measuring the Impact." The event will take place on Wednesday and Thursday, October 22-23, 2025, at the Exhibition and Conference Center on the university campus in Abha.
Dean of the College of Medicine, Prof. Ali bin Saeed Al-Qahtani, stated that the conference is held in collaboration with the Arab Network for Interprofessional Health Collaboration (ANIC) and the Saudi Association for Medical Education. It will bring together an elite group of scholars and specialists in medical education, interprofessional health education, and collaborative practice from around the world. They will discuss the latest developments in interprofessional education and healthcare, aiming to enhance cooperation among health colleges, develop curricula, improve learning outcomes, and increase the efficiency of health practitioners.
Al-Qahtani added that this conference, generously supported by the University President, Prof. Faleh bin Rajaallah Al-Solami, will play a significant role in developing learning outcomes and providing a more integrated environment among health colleges. It will also contribute to reducing operational costs and serve as a valuable addition to the university, enhancing its role in global partnerships. The conference will be accompanied by an exhibition featuring several hospitals and private health companies, showcasing the latest advancements in professional health education and healthcare. The exhibition will also include a display of scientific posters.
Preceding the conference, a symposium for members of the Arab Network for Interprofessional Health Collaboration (ANIC) will be held under the title "Building Bridges: Fostering Interprofessional Collaboration in the Arab World." The symposium aims to share the latest updates on integrated professional education and collaborative practice in Arab countries. This will reinforce the foundation of the Arab Network for Interprofessional Health Collaboration in research, capacity building, communication, and planning regional events. The goal is also to identify and plan collaborative activities that address common challenges and enhance integrated professional education in the Arab region.
The conference aims to facilitate knowledge exchange, empower stakeholders, promote research collaboration among professionals, develop the interprofessional education system, and encourage teamwork among health professions. It also seeks to establish a strong regulatory framework for interprofessional education and practice. Furthermore, it aims to achieve the university's vision of creating a distinguished center for interprofessional health education and collaborative practice. The conference targets teachers, practitioners, and students of the health professions.
The conference will host an elite group of local and international experts in medical education, interprofessional health education, and collaborative practice from Saudi Arabia, other Arab countries, America, Canada, Britain, Australia, and more. The event will include over 35 lectures and scientific discussions, 4 workshops with more than 25 speakers, simulated scenarios for health college students, and informal meetings and discussions with experts from both inside and outside the Kingdom. Over 500 academics, health professionals, and students are expected to attend.
