Under the generous patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, the Governor of Asir and Chairman of its Development Authority, King Khalid University, represented by the College of Dentistry, inaugurated the Saudi Advanced Forum for Periodontal Disease and Dental Implants. The forum, organized by the Saudi Society of Periodontology, Periodontal Surgery and Implantology, took place on September 4-5, 2025, at the Exhibition and Conference Center on the university campus in Al-Fara'a, under the theme: "Digital Transformation in Dental Implants: The Future of Clinical Practice."
The ceremony began with a speech by the University's Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Saad bin Mohammed bin Da'jam, who welcomed the forum's guests and participants from various entities within and outside the Kingdom.
He emphasized that the forum's convening reflects the significant support King Khalid University and the higher education sector, in general, receive from the wise leadership. He noted that the event aligns with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030, which has made health, education, and scientific research a fundamental pillar of national development.
Bin Da'jam explained that the forum represents a crucial scientific and professional platform to highlight the university's efforts in supporting the health sector through specialized research and programs. It also reflects its commitment to enhancing its role in serving the local community by supporting medical tourism and developing consulting services. He added that the partnership with the Saudi Society of Periodontology, Periodontal Surgery and Implantology is an advanced model for academic and professional cooperation in the fields of education, training, and knowledge exchange, aiming to improve the quality of health college graduates at the university to meet labor market demands. He also expressed hope that the forum's sessions and recommendations would lead to qualitative additions that contribute to raising the efficiency of clinical practices and developing the healthcare system in the Kingdom.
Following this, Dr. Abdullah Awad Al-Amri, the President of the Saudi Society of Periodontology, Periodontal Surgery and Implantology, delivered a speech. He extended his deepest thanks and appreciation to the Prince of the region for his generous patronage, stressing that the forum's theme reflects the global trend toward integrating digital technologies into medical practices, which contributes to improving the quality of education, treatment, and the patient experience. He also expressed the society's pride in its partnership with King Khalid University's College of Dentistry and thanked the organizing and scientific committees and sponsors for their great efforts in making the forum a success.
The Dean of the College of Dentistry at King Khalid University, Prof. Mohammed bin Ali Al-Qarni, also delivered a speech. He expressed his pleasure in the participation of a select group of specialists and experts, affirming that the forum's convening reflects the college's commitment to keeping pace with the digital transformation in the health field and investing in modern innovations such as guided surgery and 3D printing to serve patients and enhance the quality of clinical and educational outcomes.
The ceremony included a video presentation that reviewed the key achievements of the Saudi Society of Periodontology, Periodontal Surgery and Implantology over the past seven years, as well as an introductory presentation on the journey of King Khalid University's College of Dentistry and its development in the fields of education, scientific research, and community service. The presentation highlighted that the university's dental hospital receives more than 13,000 cases annually through 260 clinics equipped with the latest digital technologies and includes advanced research and educational labs. It was also noted that the college has received academic accreditation from the Education and Training Evaluation Commission.
The forum's activities included the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the College of Dentistry at King Khalid University and the Saudi Society of Periodontology, Periodontal Surgery and Implantology. The MOU was signed by the Dean of the College of Dentistry, Prof. Mohammed bin Ali Al-Qarni, on behalf of the university, and by the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Dr. Abdullah bin Awad Al-Amri, on behalf of the society. The MOU aims to enhance cooperation in education, training, and scientific research, organize joint scientific events and workshops, and develop the skills of dental students and doctors, thereby contributing to the improvement of health and research services in the field of periodontology, periodontal surgery, and dental implants.
The ceremony concluded with the honoring of the scientific and organizing committees, sponsors, and industrial partners. The team from the College of Dentistry was also honored for receiving academic accreditation from the Education and Training Evaluation Commission and in appreciation of their efforts in making the forum a success.
