His Excellency Prof. Faleh bin Rajaallah Al-Solami, the President of King Khalid University, affirmed that scientific research is the path to development and progress. He stated that through scientific research, the future is shaped, challenges are solved, and achievements are made. This came during the inauguration of the 10th Conference on the Arab Impact Factor, held under the theme "Scientific Publishing and the Knowledge Economy." The two-day conference is taking place at the Exhibition and Conference Center on the university's campus in Al-Faraa.
Al-Solami added that in February, the Asir region and King Khalid University hosted a significant event under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of the Asir region. This event saw remarkable participation from a select group of academic leaders from across the Arab world. During the event, Arab universities listed in the 2024 Arab classification were honored, and the first edition of the "Future Trends Forum" was launched, themed "Universities and Sustainable Development."
The President of King Khalid University emphasized that in light of the tremendous support for education from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, "we continue our journey with the participation of our colleagues in the Union of Arab Universities and the contribution of the Union of Arab Scientific Research Councils, universities, unions, and other related bodies. We are meeting in one of the most important scientific conferences, the 10th Arab Impact Factor Conference, which discusses the reality and future of this ambitious project, focusing on the two main pillars of scientific publishing: outputs and impact, and the knowledge economy and its integration with publishing."
Al-Solami also stressed that King Khalid University seeks to effectively contribute to hosting such a unique conference, based on Saudi Vision 2030, which aims to transform the Saudi economy into a diversified and knowledge-based one. This vision makes innovation and scientific research essential to its achievement. He added, "Our strategic directions also align with the Asir Region Development Strategy 2030, which reinforces these roles. We feel a strong sense of scientific and academic responsibility toward our society, our nation, and our partners in Arab unions, universities, and academic and research institutions, with great follow-up and support from the Ministry of Education and the Council of University Affairs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia."
Following this, the Secretary-General of the Union of Arab Universities, His Excellency Professor Dr. Amr Ezzat Salama, delivered a speech in which he expressed his happiness that King Khalid University hosted the conference. He stated that the university has proven its distinguished scientific presence thanks to its notable research and academic achievements. He added that the tenth edition of the conference represents a significant milestone in the journey of scientific research and in enhancing the status of the Arabic language in the global scientific community, at a time when knowledge and scientific research have become the cornerstone of the knowledge economy.
Afterward, the President of the Arab Impact Factor, His Excellency Professor Dr. Mahmoud Abdulati, gave a speech in which he affirmed that the progress of nations in scientific activity depends primarily on valuing the national language. He stated that one of the fundamentals of taking pride in Arab identity is the effort to record ideas, discoveries, and innovations in scientific research on Arab platforms using international tools. From this idea, the Arab Impact Factor project was born in 2007.
The ceremony concluded with the President of Abu Dhabi University handing over the conference flag to the President of King Khalid University.
