King Khalid University concluded the summer training program organized by the Deanship of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, represented by the Artificial Intelligence Center at KKU, in partnership with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the Artificial Intelligence Training Center (Robotics Academy). The program was held from July 27 to August 7, 2025, in the central laboratories at the university’s Al-Fara’a campus, lasting for two consecutive weeks.
Thirty students from the Aseer public education sector’s intermediate and secondary schools participated in the program. The initiative aimed to develop their digital and technical skills in the fields of robotics, artificial intelligence, and computational thinking through hands-on training supervised by specialists.
The Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Prof. Hamed bin Majdoa Al-Qarni, emphasized that the program represents an advanced educational experience designed to enhance the skills of general education students in strategic fields such as robotics and artificial intelligence. He explained that the university was keen to design practical and interactive training content tailored to the targeted age group, in order to stimulate their intellectual and technical abilities and strengthen their readiness for future academic and professional pathways in the technology sector.
The Director of the Artificial Intelligence Center at King Khalid University, Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Al-Qahtani, stated that the program was designed to serve as a training platform combining theoretical knowledge with practical application. Participants engaged in activities that included programming robots using simplified educational environments, applying interactive artificial intelligence technologies, and developing computational thinking skills. He added that the program provided students with a unique opportunity to explore their potential in modern technology fields within an engaging and supportive learning environment, supervised by a team of experts experienced in training younger generations.
