On behalf of His Excellency the Minister of Education and Chairman of the Council of Universities Affairs, His Excellency Prof. Faleh bin Raja Allah Al-Solami, President of King Khalid University, chaired last Thursday the 10th meeting of the University Council for the academic year 1446 AH. The meeting was attended by Prof. Bassam bin Abdullah Al-Bassam, Secretary-General of the Council of Universities Affairs, as well as the university’s vice presidents, deans of colleges and supporting deanships, and other concerned members of the University Council.
Prof. Hamed bin Majdoua Al-Qarni, Vice President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research and Secretary of the University Council, explained that the council reviewed a number of items on the agenda and made the necessary decisions. These included approving scholarships, extensions of scholarships, terminations of scholarships, and the appointment of teaching assistants and lecturers. The council also approved the granting of academic degrees, the appointment of faculty members and equivalent positions, and requests to benefit from the services of some faculty members for the academic year 1447/1448 AH.
The council further approved the recommendations of the Audit Committee in its 10th meeting for the fiscal year 2025, endorsed the updated version of the executive rules for the undergraduate study and examination regulations, and the executive rules for the regulations governing graduate studies in universities.
Among the decisions was the approval of the development of several graduate program curricula, most notably the Ph.D. program in Law (Fiqh and its Foundations) in the College of Sharia and Fundamentals of Religion, in addition to the introduction of a Master of Arts program in Early Childhood Education for Children with Disabilities in the College of Education.
