Under the patronage of His Excellency Prof. Faleh bin Raja Allah Al-Solami, President of King Khalid University, and in the presence of Ms. Safaa bint Abdullah Al-Rashed, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Future Capacities and Jobs, the university recently concluded the Summer Tech Bootcamp “Discover, Innovate, Change.” The closing ceremony was held at the university city in Al-Faraa, attended by partners, experts, participating students, and their families.
This bootcamp came as part of a joint initiative between King Khalid University—represented by the College of Computer Science—and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, in partnership with a select group of leading national and international digital-sector organizations, including: the Saudi Digital Academy, Tuwaiq Academy, KAUST Academy, ZainTech, Cisco Academy, AI Arena, and several entities specialized in developing digital capabilities.
The closing ceremony featured two video presentations documenting the bootcamp’s concept, training journey, and practical applications, which received great interaction from the audience. Ms. Safaa bint Abdullah Al-Rashed emphasized that the bootcamp’s theme, “Discover, Innovate, Change”, reflects an inspiring path to empower youth in employing modern technologies, artificial intelligence solutions, and data applications to develop innovative ideas that contribute to building an advanced knowledge economy. She praised the unique experience provided by the bootcamp in refining technical skills and linking them to practical applications, representing a distinguished model of integration between government, private, and academic sectors.
She also noted that what was presented in this bootcamp enables participants to play an active role in leading the Kingdom’s digital transformation, reaffirming the ministry’s commitment to supporting young talent. She expressed her gratitude to King Khalid University for organizing this pioneering initiative and to the parents who chose to invest in building their children’s minds.
In the same context, Dr. Areej Mohammed Al-Asiri, Dean of the College of Computer Science at King Khalid University, expressed her pride in the distinguished level of the bootcamp in terms of both content and execution. She pointed out that the strong turnout of applicants—nearly 1,000 male and female students—demonstrates students’ awareness of the importance of acquiring modern digital skills. She affirmed that the diversity of the technical tracks and the intensive practical training, alongside the strategic partnerships with leading national and international entities, are part of the university’s efforts to develop digital skills in line with the Kingdom’s aspirations for a knowledge-based economy.
During the ceremony, partners and trainers were honored in recognition of their contributions and efforts in providing high-quality training content, which offered participants a rich knowledge experience and enhanced technical qualification within the training halls. Likewise, outstanding students in the various technical tracks were recognized for presenting promising technology projects during the bootcamp.
The bootcamp, which began several weeks ago, involved more than 400 male and female students out of nearly 1,000 applicants. They were distributed across seven specialized training tracks: artificial intelligence, cloud computing, programming, robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), virtual reality, and digital manufacturing. Participants received intensive training through hands-on workshops led by a distinguished group of expert trainers.
The bootcamp succeeded in training more than 400 students in modern digital skills, producing prototype models of innovative technology projects with potential for further development, empowering students to work collaboratively, and applying technical concepts in tangible projects.
