Under the patronage of His Excellency, Dr. Faleh bin Raja Allah Al-Sulami, President of King Khalid University, the university, represented by the College of Law, organized a lecture this Monday titled “The Legal Status of the Public Prosecution” at the Exhibition and Conference Center. The event was attended by the Chief Public Prosecutor of the Asir Region, Sheikh Fahd bin Mohammed Al-Ghawairi, experts in the field, faculty members, and students.
The lecture was delivered by the Assistant Public Prosecutor for Investigation, Dr. Turki bin Eid Al-Dosari, who reviewed the legal foundations of the Public Prosecution, its authorities, and the legal powers granted to its members. He also highlighted the main tasks assigned to the office in the context of achieving criminal justice, drawing on his practical experience in this field.
Dr. Al-Dosari emphasized the strong support received by the Public Prosecution from the leadership, which has resulted in qualitative development in its organizational and technical structure. This has enhanced its efficiency in protecting rights and achieving justice, providing a professional work environment that meets the highest standards of competence and fairness, making it an attractive career option for qualified legal professionals, especially given its ongoing legislative and organizational development and its role in strengthening the rule of law in the Kingdom.
He also provided an overview of the developmental stages of the Public Prosecution, the types of procedures it undertakes, and the services it offers to society, reflecting its central role in the Saudi judicial system. He commended the participation of women in the Public Prosecution, noting that their presence is no longer a luxury but a practical necessity proven effective in real-world practice.
Furthermore, Dr. Al-Dosari encouraged enhanced cooperation with King Khalid University students in field training and practical applications. He highlighted the qualifications required to join the Public Prosecution and the importance of impartiality and objectivity in the work of investigators, reflecting high institutional responsibility and professionalism in serving justice.
The lecture witnessed active engagement from attendees, enriching students’ legal knowledge and opening dialogue on judicial practices and their role in strengthening the rule of law. Dr. Al-Dosari also praised King Khalid University’s strategy and its alignment with the Asir region’s development strategy, noting the university’s pioneering role in preparing qualified legal professionals capable of meeting professional requirements.
