On Wednesday the 26th of October, King Khalid University concluded the
Improvement Studies Camp which was a collaboration between the university College
of Engineering and the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC). The camp was organized
by the university and held at Al-Qaraa campus.
During the ceremony, His Excellency honored the camp’s participating teams, and
participants who submitted multiple studies. Among the studies submitted in the
camp were the effect of lightning on electrical grids, ways to mitigate its effects, the
enhancement of the performance of electrical transducers tap changers in Bader Al-
Janoub and Almoujama power stations, the improvement of customer satisfaction
assessment as well as automating the preparation process of conference rooms along
with crisis and disaster management center.
On his part, the Vice-Dean of the College of Engineering for Research and Higher
Education, Dr. Saeed Al-Qadhi, explained that the camp was carried out in a three day
duration. He noted that the objective of holding such camps, is to engage students in
solving potential problems that may occur in companies or departments in the future.
Al-Qadhi added, that through these interactive camps the university seeks to bridge
direct communication between SEC engineers and university students in order to
prepare students for future opportunities and implement SEC improvement
methodology through workshops to achieve the best results.
In addition to His Excellency the University President attendance, the closing
ceremony included the presence of the head of Distribution and Customer services-
Southern Sector at SEC, Engineer Abdullah bin Zain Al-Amri, the head of Corporate
Excellence, Research and Development Sector at SEC, Engineer Fahad Al-Otaibi, as
well as a number of university and SEC officials.
It is worth noting that the number of participating students in the camp was an
estimate of 22 students from the College of Engineering, College of Computer
Science and College of Business.
