Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Asir Region, King Khalid University, represented by the Saudi Scientific Society for Medical Education, is to organize the Saudi International Conference on Medical Education SIMEC 2022, during the period 15-16 February.
His Excellency the President of the University, Prof. Faleh bin Rajaa Al-Solami, commended the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz for the conference, and his continuous support for the activities and programs of the university, and welcomed the guests of the conference.
Al-Solami, explained that the conference comes as part of the university’s belief in the importance of scientific research, which is one of the pillars of development and the functions of academic institutions. He added that the medical and health fields in particular are among the fields that need the most constant scientific and research activities and conferences, given their role in the overall development of people.
His Excellency emphasized that the topics of the conference, include areas of developing curricula, plans, education strategies, teaching methods and techniques, and development programs
in the field of medical education which have clear and important repercussions in the qualitative outputs that achieve development goals and the vision of Saudi Arabia 2030 and ensure its success in the professional medical field.
On his part, university Vice president of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Conference, Dr. Hamid Al-Qarni, said, “Today we are witnessing the harvest of the concerted efforts of a number of different committees, who have worked hard so that we could hold this conference in an integrated manner and gather in a scientific celebration, and enjoy the participation of experts from the medical and educational field .
Al-Qarni , noted that the conference will witness the attendance of more than twenty speakers, to review and discuss the summary of their research and experiences, and to come up with recommendations for the best internationally approved practices in the medical field, which we aspire through this conference to provide.
The President of the Saudi Scientific Society for Medical Education and Conference Chairman, Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Omari confirmed that this conference is the largest scientific gathering in the field of medical education in the Middle East, and it mainly discusses recent developments and research related to medical education, including the topics of innovation in medical education, the trends of new curricula for colleges Medicine, academic skills development, examination and assessment matters, in addition to other topics.
Al-Omari indicated that the conference will focus in this version on distance learning topics, especially after the topic took a very important place during the global pandemic, in addition to other axes related to academic leadership, clinical training, and vocational education.
Al-Omari added that the conference received more than 300 scientific research papers in the field of medical education, and 250 of them were accepted for presentation, discussion and publication in the conference book.
It is worth noting, that on the sidelines of the conference, a meeting for the deans of medical colleges in the Kingdom will be held. The conference will also witness the launch of various competitions with valuable prizes in various topics, which will include medical essay writing, books published in the medical field and research excellence in medical education.
