In a response to suspended attendance of employees at their workplaces in all government agencies except for those in the health, security and military sectors as part of the Kingdom’s efforts to combat the spread of the coronavirus, King Khalid University offered several electronic services to support the rapid transition to telework. Of note, the General Administrations of Information Technology and Cyber Security worked around the clock to ensure successful continuity of normal operations.
CIO, Dr. Mohammed Alsaqer, explained that during 21 days, a total of 330,000 tasks to activate working online were performed, 107 remote training sessions were held, 200 virtual telephones to support office extensions were activated, 250 secure work accounts were created, 48 emails were established for collages and administrations to communicate with students, and 400 technical reports were processed.
He pointed out that when it comes to enabling working online, 18 business WhatApp accounts were added to technical support, 6 technical teams were formed to support working online, 5 comprehensive guides were prepared and published for working and communicating online, and 6 video call services were included in the "With You" pack.
The 2 administrations focused on redistributing Internet capacities to support online learning with special attention to supporting a number of meetings and official councils. Four electronic link operations were created, an electronic service was launched, 30,000 cyberattacks were countered, 330,000 messages were facilitated through the "Tawasol" system, and 30 news stories were translated.
Statistics of the administrations of Information Technology and Cyber Security showed a total of 81,000 exchanged electronic inquiries, 90,000 visits to the Working Online Manual, 1,300 requests through "Mubasher", 3,000 electronic inquiries, and 6 community initiatives.
These statistics are but only part of the process, which does not include the slew of services offered by the Deanship of E-Learning. The Deanship of E-Learning supports the efforts to facilitate working online, councils, meetings, committees, symposiums, and workshops.
