King Khalid University to Celebrate World Teachers' Day

Sponsored by His Excellency King Khalid University Rector, Prof. Falleh R. M. Al-Solamy, the College of Education will celebrate World Teachers' Day next Sunday the 27th of Muharram at the Gregor Campus.

The Dean of the College of Education, Dr. Abdullah Al-Qasi, explained that after endorsement by the United Nations Organization for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO), the day has been observed the world over on October 5th since 1994. It commemorates the anniversary of the adoption of the 1966 International Labour Organization/UNESCO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers. Dean Al-Qasi emphasized that King Khalid University and the College of Education will celebrate this day as part of its social responsibility towards society and the educational environment as a symbol of appreciation towards the profession and its role in achieving Vision 2030. Highlighting the fundamental role of teachers in every aspect of society will underscore the events planned for the day.

The celebration will be accompanied by a number of activities that will include a poetry recital by Dr. Khudran Al-Sahimi and Dr. Ibrahim Abu Taleb and a lecture by Dr. Saleh Abu Arad on the value of the teaching in Islam.
