University academicians: balanced solutions that ensure safety and continued academic achievement

.Al-Trere, the Political analyst, praises suspending the "summer" semester at the university

The Political analyst, Abdul Rahman Al-Trere, has commented on the suspension of student attendance for the summer semester in all the faculties of King Khalid University (KKU), and replacing it with electronic study. In his comment, Al-Trere praised the cooperation conducted with the Saudi universities via "Visitor system" in some disciplines. The resolution was due to recent developments in the southern parts of the country, in order to ensure the safety of students. He confirmed that educational institutions entrust tasks precede Education; firstly comes the educational institutions' keenness to evaluate students' behavior and morals conditions before education, in addition to providing the conducive atmosphere that is suitable for producing effective academic output. But above all of these tasks comes the most important one, which is ensuring the students' safety, as well as the safety of buildings and scientific instruments. In terms of safety, it is the main point of concern and priority for all the scientific benefit. Al-Trere added, "Remarkably, the resolution of King Khalid University - as was stated by the University official spokesman Fahd bin Tohama - is a means to create balanced solutions to ensure safety for students and to enable them to continue their educational pursuit during the summer semester, which is increasingly important for those who are about to graduate, and for those who have limited hours remaining that could be attained in the summer. The solution was through distance learning, which seems a viable compromise that allows education to go on without any danger." Al-Tere continued, "Nowadays, the southern border is witnessing brave work of our brave soldiers to deal with the Houthi militias who are being backed by Iran. From time to time, the oppressive force tries to find any mirage of victory, after the repeated defeats. They found nothing, so they resorted to launching missiles that may hurt the southern regions, which often fail to reach their intended targets -  thanks to God then to the vigilance of the Air Defense Forces. This is one of the main reasons that pushed the university to suspend study in the summer semester, indulging in caution and in order to ensure the safety of students and teaching staff."

For his part, the Dean of Admissions and Registration of King Khalid University, Dr. Sultan Al Farah stressed that the resolution to suspend the summer semester was a distinctive bold step taken by the university in order to ensure students' safety. Al-Farah said, "The University has taken an unprecedented step through offering an alternative solution for those who will be affected by suspending study. Additionally, the university saved preparatory subjects which reduced much of the side effects of suspending the summer study. Moreover, the university pursued to coordinate with other Saudi Universities via "Visitor System" that benefited a large number of male and female students".

For her part, the Dean of the University Center for the Study of the Female Students, Dr. Shanifa Al-Qarni said, "we live in a country in which its citizens and residents are like one body; if a part of it hurts, the rest of the body is equally hurt. What happened and what is happening of the encroachment on the borders, on the human, and on their properties, mobilized everyone's determination, making the resolve one, which is defending the homeland - by everyone from his / her location. Dr. Shanifa stressed that changing the strategy of the summer semester for students of King Khalid University was informed by the desire to protect the youth of this country and save their lives. Furthermore, the resolution of suspending the summer study reflected the unity and solidarity to facilitate the mission of the army and their movements in the southern region. Pointing out further that "It is our duty; to serve the nation and defend it." She added, "The University has pursued a wise policy which is of great benefit to the students by posting some courses through e-learning, an area in which King Khalid University topped the Saudi universities. Moreover, the executive and practical steps regarding the summer semester plan of this year came fast and well-organized since taking the decision. Conducting the plan moved smoothly and comfortably for everyone." She concluded saying, "I ask God the Almighty to lead our students to success - male and female. We also pray to God to bless our dear country with safety and security, to help the governors, and to save our soldiers who are stationed on the border."
