Rector Al-Solamy Commences 'Translation: The Intercultural Communication' Forum

Under the supervision of His Excellency, King Khalid University Rector Prof. Falleh Al-Solamy, the activities of the "Translation: The Intercultural Communication" forum will begin on 26 February 2020 and end on 27 February 2020. The forum, which will be held in auditorium 5 and 6, was organized by the College of Science and Arts at Khamis Mushait in cooperation with the Faculty of Languages ​​and Translation.

 

The forum is the first of its kind in the region and includes several well-known researchers who will present on several interesting topics in the field of translation. The total number of submissions reached 23, with 13 making the final cut.

 

Vice Rector for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Saad Al-Amri, explained that the forum aims to shed light on the importance of translation and its uses in accord with Vision 2030. He noted that challenges in the translation field will underscore the central theme with calls for new solutions and strategies to solve them. Vice Rector Al-Amri confirmed that this forum also aims to discuss modern technology in translation and present the most prominent individual and institutional achievements and initiatives in the field of translation.

 

Dean of the College of Sciences and Arts in Khamis Mushait, Prof. Sara Abu Melha, indicated that the forum will focus on the role of translation in the development process pursuant to Vision 2030, highlighting that translation problems and challenges, translation solutions and strategies, modern technology in translation, and personal/institutional experiences in translation will be covered in detail.

 

Of noteworthy mention, the forum will host a group of translation specialists and scholars from the Arab world, including Dr. Walid Al-Omari, Taibah University, Dr. Abdelhamid Elewa, Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University, and Dr. Alrashid bin Muhammad Abdul Qadir, King Saud University.
