KKU represented by Deanship of Registration and Admission announced the acceptance of scholarship requests made by Syrian Students recently. The offer is for those who came to the Kingdom on ''visiting Visa' during the period from 12/9/1435 AH to 18/9/1435 AH in Quraiqe Campus at main services hall (Deanship of Registration and Admission).
The announcement for the clarification of the offer was made by the Registration and Admission Dean, Dr. Saad Bin Dajim. Dr. Saad pointed out that the decision to offer the scholarship came, under the guidance of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education Dr. Khalid Bin Mohammed Al Angari, who announced the offer of scholarship to three thousand (3,000) Syrian students in 23 local universities. The offer is within the framework of admission of Syrian students in the Academic Program of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques in order to help Syrian students. It is also an offer of admission within the general provision of scholarships for non -Saudis at higher education levels, and in governmental institutions only.
On the terms and conditions of the admission, Dr. Dajim reported that the students should be those who came to Saudi Arabia on a Free Visit Visa, free as a result of the current situations being witnessed in Syria, before the adoption of this resolution. Also, the conditions of admission applied are the same conditions applied on Saudi Students in Saudi higher Education institutions with exception of General Aptitude Test and Educational Achievement Test conditions.
He explained further that for the applicants of bachelor, they must have high school certificate, or its certified equivalent, for the applicants of graduate studies (masters and doctorate), the masters applicants must have his/her bachelor certificate, while the Ph.D applicants must have his/her masters certificate.
With regard to students who were studying in Syria, Dr. Dajm stated that they must have studied at least one semester in private or governmental educational institution in Syria, and in an institution that is recognized by Syrian Ministry of Higher Education. An applicant must bring academic records to prove the courses he or she has studied. The age for undergraduates should not be less than 17 years, and not more than 25 years, for undergraduate stage and Arabic Teaching Institute or its equivalent. The age of masters applicants should be less than 30 years and less than 35 years for doctorate applicants, stating further that the Council of educational institution has accepted that. The applicants should not be unlawfully dismissed from any Saudi educational institutions. The certificates and academic records of the applicants must be certified by the educational institution, the Syrian Foreign Ministry and and finally by Saudi Arabian Cultural Mission to Syria.
Regarding the advantages for students in these scholarship programs, Dr. Saad mentioned that medical care will be provided for the students, as well as for their families if they are living together here in Saudi Arabia. Also provided will be minimal meal allowances and or subsidy. These services are to be provided by the educational institution (taking care of the feeding aspect) and Saudi government health institutions (taking care of the medical aspect).
It was mentioned that King Khalid University has already allocated nearly 200 scholarship seats for Syrian students within the admission of Syrian students in the Academic Program of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to help Syrian students.
