King Khalid University, represented by the Medicine and Innovation Club at the College of Medicine, recently concluded a 10-day awareness campaign on the importance of donating stem cells, under the supervision and participation of the Saudi Stem Cells Donor Registry (SSCDR). The campaign registered more than 700 donors at the campaign headquarters in Abha under the supervision of College of Medicine Dean, Prof. Suliman Mohammed Al-Humayed, and Student Activities Director, Dr. Wadah Al-Almaie.

Of noteworthy mention, the campaign aims to reach out to the largest segment of society in order to increase the number of registered donors. This will enhance the ability to match donors to patients suffering from serious diseases in need of a stem cell transplant. The stem cell donation awareness campaign is based on international best practices and the latest techniques to determine tissue typing and blood group.
