King Khalid University Rector, His Excellency Prof. Falleh R. M. Al-Solamy, inaugurated the "Mutma'anun" Guidance and Consultation Center at the main campus. The purpose of the center is to provide our valued students with professional psychological and emotional support during the course of their studies at the university. Rigorous academic programs can be quite stressful. Undue stress can cause a variety of adverse mental and physical issues that can seriously affect people's health. The staff at the new center will help our students cope with stress, and help alleviate potentially serious health issues. The center is managed under the auspices of the Deanship of Student Affairs, and will operate periodically on the main campus.

Upon arrival, His Excellency Rector Al-Solamy toured the exhibition tent and commended all of the faculty and staff participating in this initiative. 'Our students face complex problems and difficult circumstances. This center will provide professional assistance while maintaining a strict confidentiality policy. This will encourage our students to utilize the center' he said. The Rector noted that this is a pilot program that will be expanded to include other campuses within the university system.

The Director of the Guidance and Consultation Center, Mr. Abdullah Al-Dareem, explained that the "Mutma'anun" campaign is designed to raise awareness of stress-related mental health issues, and provide guidance to reduce the risk of psychological, emotional and physical harm that can result. Dr. Al-Dareem noted that he will conduct a survey to determine the levels of interest in and efficacy of the program. Dr. Mohammad Safran and Dr. Zafer Al-Hamad presented mental health-related lectures at the event.
