Public Relations Builds Institutions Campaign

The Media and Communication Center held a seminar titled 'Public Relations Between Theory and Practice' as part of the 'Public Relations Builds Institutions Campaign'. The campaign aims to detail the concept, image, and essential role public relations (PR) holds in government and private industry. The campaign is a graduation project for the first academic semester 1439-40 AH for students Amani Al-Qahtani and Khariya Ah Jahli.

The symposium was opened by College of Humanities Assistant Dean, Dr. Suher Isaaa Al-Qahtani, in the presence of Media and Communication Department Supervisor, Dr. Nora Amer, a number of students, faculty members, and university employees.

The campaign began with a speech by Dr. Amer where she explained that the campaign is a graduation project for the first semester 1439-40 AH and part of the 'Public Relations Builds Institutions Campaign', which is a cultural awareness campaign that aims to highlight the importance of PR in government and private industry.

In the first session of the symposium, Spokesperson of the General Authority for Statistics and the Director General of the Department of Media and Statistical Awareness, Mr. Tayseer Al-Mufraj, addressed the issue of PR between theory and practice, the different definitions of PR, the challenges facing PR, common questions, the tools of PR, and the importance of charisma when engaging with the audience.

Later, Al-Mufreh also spoke about the study of PR in the university and the implementation of it, stressing that the reality of PR is very different from theory. Al-Mufreh maintains that due to the ever-changing PR landscape, success in the field rests on the shoulders of the PR representative.

In the second session of the symposium, Public Relations Specialist, Nora Al-Ruman, spoke about her personal experience in PR and the role of PR in institutions. Community Service College Public Relations Specialist, Asma Al-Shehri, discussed the importance of PR and the role it plays in the development of institutions. After, Saudi Media Network Public Relations Director, Rana Al Shehri, explained the role of communication in the life of a PR student.

The symposium was concluded by a workshop titled 'The Foundation to Organising Events' presented by the Leo Foundation for Exhibitions and Conferences Executive Director, Nouf Al-Shehri. She reviewed the importance of having inspired ideas when organizing exhibitions and conferences.
