Asir Governor sponsored the signing of a partnership and cooperation agreement between the university and a number of security agencies in the region

HRH Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdul Aziz, the Governor of Asir Region has sponsored today morning in the emirate headquarter signing a number of partnership and cooperation agreements between King Khalid University and the Directorate General of Civil Defense and the General Directorate of Prisons and the General Directorate for Drug Control

On this occasion, the Dean of Research and Consulting Studies Institute who is also the Head of the Marketing Department at King Khalid University, Dr. Abdullatif Alhidithi explained that these agreements come in pursuit of the university to deepen its societal role and a confirmation of its mission in the development of the area. Dr. Alhidithi Indicated that the agreement between the university and the Directorate General of Civil Defense focuses on providing lectures, seminars and training courses in administrative and forensic and psychological areas of security, safety and the implementation of joint scientific studies and field surveys.

According to the agreement with the Prisons Department, the university will provide a broad package of programs. Among these programs is the availability of undergraduate study for prisoners to get a university degree by providing lessons and lectures inside the prison or via virtual and e-learning classes. The University is committed to providing full technical support for the management of prisons and to provide all the educational requirements to facilitate this. In addition, the University based on this agreement is committed also to offer diploma programs and training courses for prisoners and staff in computer fields, the development of self-management skills, and English language. These courses are going to be held in Abha General Prison as a first stage. Moreover, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Pharmac, and the Faculty of Dentistry will provide a number of medical and health programs for prisoners to provide them with necessary medicines and mobile fully- equipped clinics.

Regarding the agreement with the General Directorate for Drug Control, the agreement includes awareness and education programs, mentoring and psychological counseling programs in addition to training courses in quality and contribution to the preparation of preventive and curative plans and conducting joint studies.

At the end of the meeting, His Highness the Governor of Asir region sponsored the signing of these agreements with the Rector of King Khalid University, Dr. Faleh Rajaa Allah Al Solamy. University Vice-Presidents signed for King Khalid University, HE Major General Saleh bin Mansi Al Harthy for the General Directorate of Civil Defense in Asir,  HE Brigadier General Mubarak bin Muhia Sulais for the Directorate General of Prisons in Asir,  and HE Brigadier General Saad bin Abdullah Al-Omari for the General Directorate for drug Control in the region.
