The launch of “Tebian” program activities in King Khalid University for the prevention of youth from the deviant thought.

His Excellency, the President of King Khalid University, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Dawood, yesterday inaugurated “Tebian” project for the prevention of extremism and excessiveness, which is organized by the Deanship of Student Affairs in cooperation with King Abdul Aziz Center for National Dialogue. Activiteis of the project will take place during the period of 19 to 23 of March 2016 AD. The venue of the occasion is in the central terraced of University City in Abha.

During the inauguration ceremony, President Al Dawood explained that the University was pleased to host that program, which comes in cooperation with the King Abdul Aziz Center for National Dialogue for the prevention of extremism and excessiveness, and to protect the youth from deviant thought. The President pointed out further that those events were the starting point of cooperation between the University and King Abdul Aziz Center.
Also, the University President clarified that the nation's wealth appeared in its youth and the deviant thought targeted that wealth, and so, we should strive to educate young people, to guide them, and to warn them of extremist, of deviant, and of destructive ideology.
From his side, the Assistant Secretary General of the Center for National Dialogue, Mr. Ibrahim Bin Zayed Asiri, clarified that King Abdul Aziz National Center for National Dialogue celebrated the launch of the second phase of “Tebian” project in King Khalid University, where the program, which is in cooperation with Saudi Universities, aimed at fortifying the young people from destructive ideas. Mr. Asiri concluded that the program was one of the programs that represent the integration of roles and efforts between the center and influential institutions of society.

It is noteworthy that the activities of the project started last Sunday, with the conducting of four workshops, aimed at the faculty members, presented by Dr. Saeed Al Amoudi, from King Abdul Aziz Center for National Dialogue.
In the evening of the day, a Faculty Member from Imam Muhammad bin Saud University, who is also a Researcher of Education and Family, Sheikh Dr. Ali Shubaily, presented a lecture in the university theater in which he talked about ideological extremism, and how to protect young people and society from all aspects of ideological extremism.
Among “Tebian” project activities, there will be workshop for King Khalid University students, in addition to some students from the participating Saudi universities, as well as training course for intellectual dialogue on Tuesday and Wednesday (21 - 22 / 5 / 1437 H). At the end of the project activities there will be presentation of some experiences in extremism and how to prevent it.

The participating universities in the project are represented by; the College of Health Sciences in King Saud University, Dammam University, Taif University, Jazan University, Al-Baha University and Majmaa University, in addition to Umm Al Qura University, Al-Jawf University and Bisha University, with a delegation of four students accompanied by a supervisor from each university.


The aim of “Tebian". project is spreading the values of moderation, tolerance and the rejection of extremism in all its forms, and protecting the community from the extremist ideas and groups, in addition to equipping the participants, through practical and skillful means, with necessary tactics that will enable them to detect intellectual distractions during a dialogue, as well as deepening the dialogue and understanding language to deal with intellectual problems.
