His Royal Highness Governor of Aseer Region Chairman of Aseer Development Authority Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, patronized the “King Khalid University Towards Global Excellence” ceremony this Saturday evening the 2nd of March 2023 at the university city in Al-Faraa. His Royal Highness affirmed that the university city's completion, backed by a budget exceeding 11 billion Saudi riyals, is in line with the region's strategic vision. Furthermore, the establishment of new colleges and endowments aligns seamlessly with Vision 2030, underscoring the university's unequivocal commitment to the pursuit of global excellence.

On his part, President of King Khalid University, Prof. Faleh bin Rajaallah Al-Solami, explained that “King Khalid University Towards Global Excellence" ceremony is a tribute to those actively contributing to the university's numerous achievements. He stressed that the alignment of global initiatives with the strategic goals to develop Aseer region, envisions Aseer as a year-round global destination in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.

On behalf of the university members and himself, His Excellency expressed his gratitude to our wise leadership, he also extended his appreciation to His Royal Highness, Governor of Aseer Region, Chairman of Aseer Development Authority for his interest, keenness, and ongoing support, he also thanked the Minister of Education, His Excellency Prof. Yusuf Al-Binyan, for his significant support and attention. Al-Solami concluded by thanking all partners, supporters, and both current and former university leaders for their collective efforts in advancing the university's journey and progress.

Notably, the ceremony showcased numerous global initiatives, encompassing service contracts for the College of Tourism and Hospitality with international universities and institutes. Memoranda of Understandings were formalized with the University of Foreign Studies in the People's Republic of China, paving the way for the establishment of a Chinese language education institute and the introduction of programs in tourism and commerce. The agreements extended to collaborations with Cambridge Nucleomics, the Bee Industry Association in the Miyun region - Beijing, People's Republic of China, and a partnership agreement with Monash University, in conjunction with the National Center for Environmental Compliance.

Furthermore, the event featured an agreement with the "EF" company for English language education, a memorandum of understanding with Fortinet, collaboration with Microsoft Arabia to foster essential capabilities for technical initiatives at the university. Additionally, comprehensive agreements were forged with Cisco Saudi Arabia, HP Saudi Arabia, Huawei, Palo Alto, and Huazhong Agricultural University (China).

The ceremony also marked the launch of several national programs and initiatives prominent highlights included the establishment of an endowment fund, the inception of the Aseer Historical Center, and the opening of a Tawakkal Academy branch. Agreements were solidified, including a memorandum of understanding with  Aseer Investment Company, as well as a memoranda of understanding with Sudah Company and Ardara Development Company.

Moreover, the event featured an agreement to initiate a partnership with the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid, particularly through the International Volunteer Teams Program. A significant service contract was formalized between King Khalid University (represented by the Design Thinking Center) and the Global Innovation Holding Company, outlining plans for an executive program in professional certifications. The university also secured agreements with the Organic Standards Company and a memorandum of understanding with the Ministry of Culture. Additionally, a partnership agreement was established between the university and the Shakirin Endowments, focusing on community service and the development of specialized centers for oncology and kidney dialysis within King Khalid University Hospital.

The ceremony culminated with the launch of 57 central laboratories at King Khalid University, the establishment of the university's business center and incubators, and the inauguration of the university's data center.
