Launch of Scout Rehabilitation Project for Female Leaders

The foundational study of the Scout Rehabilitation Project for Female Leaders at King Khalid University launched on Thursday morning, in partnership with the Asir Development Authority, the Alwaleed Foundation for Humanity, and the Saudi Arabian Scout Association, which is held from February 15-19, 2024, at Al-Fara’a University City. 

The Dean of the Deanship of Students’ Affairs at the university, Dr. Ali bin Musfir Al-Qahtani, explained that the project implements the cooperation agreement between King Khalid University, represented by the Deanship of Students’ Affairs, and the Alwaleed Foundation for Humanity, to activate the role of community partnership and encourage volunteering. The project aims to rehabilitate and establish scouts for female leaders, establish female roving clans in the university and train them on the principles of scouting. as well as practice various scouting activities that meet the needs of the rovers in the university, in addition to enhancing the role of the university in spreading the female scouting movement locally and internationally.

The foundational study includes a number of axes, sessions, and theoretical and practical activities. The theoretical part of the study is held over three days and includes educational workshops on scouting organizations and their local, Arab, and international foundations, and familiarization with various scouting methods, in addition to training courses to learn the top practices of scout leadership and how to apply them.

The practical part of the study will be held over two days, including proper practical planning for the activities of the scout unit, protection from harm in scouting, in addition to a practical practice of the arts of scout ropes, and an accompanying hiking trip that concludes with a session to discuss ideas and challenges.

It is worth noting that the Scout Rehabilitation Project for Female Leaders is the first of its kind in specialized scouting programs for female students at the university, and it targets in its foundational phase the rehabilitation of 24 female scout leaders from the university affiliates and the Department of Education in the Asir region.
