In collaboration with the Deanship of Student Affairs, King Khalid University's Faculty of Languages and Translation will host the "Translator of Tourism" competition to translate tourism-related materials connected to Asir region's tourist attractions. Further, all three of the competition's pathways—written translation, simultaneous translation, and audiovisual translation—will involve translating texts from Arabic into other languages.

The competition aims to encourage students to contribute to achieving the university's strategic goals, which would result in serving Asir's tourism promotion.

Dean of the Faculty of Languages and Translation at the university, Dr. Ahmed Ismail Asiri, explained that the competition is one of the initiatives of the faculty, through which it provides community service. Furthermore, on his part, Dr. Issa Asiri, Head of the Translation Department, reaffirmed that the FLT upholds its social duty to present the region of Asir in its ideal light and draw attention to its uniqueness. Academically, Asir is also viewed as a linguistic window for this national objective, which is aligned with the Kingdom's goal of creating an integrated tourism system.

Each team's translated works will be reviewed across all tracks by a committee made up of faculty members from the university's translation department and contest judges from outside the university. The top 3 participations in each pathway will receive valuable prizes.
