King Khalid University Rector Dr. Faleh Al-Solamy sponsored the second preparation course for university scholarship students and the Academic Excellence Award for outstanding students and faculty members returning from scholarships for the academic year 1438/1439 AH. The event was organized by the Department of Scholarships and Recruitment from the Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Agency.
In his speech, Rector Al-Solamy explained that the preparation course aims to prepare candidates for scholarships abroad by introducing the various scholarship regulations and the importance of qualifying students for Postgraduate Studies -- a top priority.
His Excellency thanked the University’s Graduate Studies and Scientific Research Agency for organizing courses that contribute to enhancing the knowledge of university graduates. He also wished the winners of the academic and research excellence award and the scholarship students in attendance best wishes in their academic and professional careers.
The preparation course was initiated as a result of the future direction the scholarship program's education outcomes as presented by the Vice Rector of Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Saad Al-Amri. This was followed by Dr. Khalid Al-Qarni, who spoke on the topic of requirements and obstacles of scholarships and the academic and legal systems for the scholarship countries, explaining how to contact the hosting university and Saudi mission as required. Dr. Ali Abdullah Al-Shati, a member of the scholarship committee, touched on the topic of criteria for selecting universities. The importance of student commitment to the nature of the culture, social customs, rules, regulations and laws while in the country of scholarship was presented by Dr. Khalid Al-Qarni. The importance of choosing the topic of research in writing a thesis or dissertation was covered by Dr. Saeed Al-Surf, assistant professor from the Faculty of Languages and Translation. Towards the end of the event, Academic Excellence Awards were delivered to outstanding scholarship students who achieved while studying abroad. Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Al-Shehri was honored in the field of human sciences, Dr. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Omari in Applied Medical Sciences, Dr. Ali bin Issa Anghi in Engineering, and Dr. Munassir Alhamami in Languages and Translation.
