Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Asir Region, King Khalid University will host International Civil Defense Day, organized by the Directorate of Civil Defense in the Asir Region on Sunday, 16 Jumada II 1439 AH.
His Excellency Dr. Faleh Bin Rajaa Allah Al-Solamy stressed that hosting the activities of the International Day of Civil Defense is an affirmation of the university's awareness of the vital role played by our Civil Defense in saving lives and property and for its significant national and humanitarian efforts. The cooperation between King Khalid University and the Civil Defense Directorate comes within the common belief of the two parties in its importance and positive results, under the international slogan "Educational Institutions and Culture of Peace".
Al-Solamy stressed that the directives of His Royal Highness the Governor of the Asir Region always confirm the importance of participation among the government sectors in the region.
In his speech, the Director of Civil Defense in the Asir Region, Brigadier General Aazi bin Yahya Al-Alma’e, said that the Directorate of Civil Defense in the Asir Region, in cooperation with King Khalid University, has completed its preparations for the celebration of the International Day of Civil Defense this year.
He added that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia represented by the General Directorate of Civil Defense, share the countries of the world in the celebration of the International Day of Civil Defense under the auspices of the International Civil Defense Organization in Geneva, which is the most important international organization specialized in civil defense.
In support of preserving the country's resources, he further added that they are very keen to enhance their capabilities and increase interaction within all segments of society. This is aligned with its primary mission and task to protect life and property by intensifying awareness programs and activities to prevent all risks and activate the role of society in this regard.
Al-Alma'e stressed that the launch of these events would receive the attention and follow-up of His Royal Highness the Governor of the Asir Region, noting that many activities will be carried out in partnership and cooperation with King Khalid University in Abha.
Given that International Civil Defense Day is a high priority, Al-Alma'e concluded by emphasizing the activities of the event will include the departments and centers of Civil Defense in the region in all governorates. It will include the establishment of awareness exhibitions in commercial shopping centers, lectures in various schools and some commercial and industrial establishments in the region, with the participation of concerned governmental and non-governmental bodies. Moreover, activities of this day will include the distribution of a series of awareness pamphlets and brochures, which will highlight the importance of safety in educational institutions in the participation of civil defense work and its awareness roles, in addition to the necessity to cooperate in the prevention or reduction of risks, God willing.
