His Royal Highness, Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz, the Governor of the Aseer Region, who is also the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the King Khalid Scientific Research Chair, will patronize the opening ceremony of the Fourth Scientific Forum on the History of King Khalid bin Abdul-Aziz, may Allah have mercy on him. The forum comes under the title of “Social Aspects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Under the Reign of King Khalid Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud." The event has been organized by King Khalid's Chair at our University and will take place in Abha Palace from the 4th to the 5th of this month.
On this occasion, His Excellency the Rector of King Khalid University, Prof. Dr. Faleh Bin Rajaa Allah Al-Solamy, expressed the University's pride in holding such event. Rector Al-Solamy said, “Scientific research in this important historical period of our national history is a scientific, national and moral duty because King Khalid, may Allah have mercy on him, dedicated himself and provided unlimited generosity towards the homeland and its people." He stressed that the patronage of HRH Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz for this meeting is an extension of the typical bridges that His Royal Highness always opens for the University. The Rector welcomed the researchers who will come to the University and who will enrich this meeting in the numerous research pillars that have been set by the King Khalid Bin Abdul-Aziz Chair, who has been tirelessly pursuing the continuous establishment of valuable scientific conferences.
For his part, the University Vice-President for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, Dr. Saad bin Abdulrahman Al-Omari, said that the University shoulders a great responsibility towards the community regarding the educational and research process. It has worked on harnessing all material and human resources to keep pace with the progress and development of this country.
In like manner, he pointed out that scientific chairs are one of the essential responsibilities of the University. King Khalid’s Chair for Scientific Research established in 1426 AH is at the forefront of scientific chairs. King Khalid University enthusiastically supports its activities and cherishes the research, publications, and scientific meetings, including this fourth scientific meeting. He added he hopes the scientific meetings will continue to achieve and exceed the desired outcomes and research goals.
He stressed that this forum is an enhancement to its objectives because it is of great importance centered on an important topic underpinned by human and community development. It discusses the social aspects of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the reign of King Khalid in a crucial period that contributed to a significant qualitative leap in those areas.
For his part, the Supervisor of the King Khalid Scientific Research Chair, Dr. Ahmed bin Yahya Al-Faea, said that the Chair seeks to be a distinguished and pioneering research institution in the revival of King Khalid's heritage and to provide developmental and scientific contributions that serve the region's issues. He further emphasized the message of the chair: it seeks to revive the history of King Khalid Bin Abdul Aziz - may God have mercy on him - and highlight the developmental contributions in various fields in his era, stimulating scientific research on Saudi Arabia in all scientific and developmental aspects, in addition to safeguarding the historical accounts of the Aseer region and its developmental processes.
Dr. Al-Faea added that the Chair aims to highlight the efforts of King Khalid, his role in the process of progress and development in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the completion of scientific projects and field studies that serve the knowledge and development issues in the Aseer region. Furthermore, the forum strives to enrich the fields of the Chair and its interests by attracting local and international researchers with experience and scientific excellence, support research and scientific studies, university transcripts, books, competitions and prizes, which are in the areas of interest of the Chair, and establish scientific links among similar educational bodies, organizations and institutions, internally and externally. Furthermore, it strives to support creativity and innovation in the areas of the chair, scientific research service and enrichment of knowledge by increasing research and studies about the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in general, and the Aseer region in particular.
He added, "As for the administrative structure of the King Khalid Scientific Research Chair, there is a Supervisory Board that is responsible for formulating the policies of the Chair and following up on achieving its objectives and supporting the Chair with the opinion and advice in its scientific axes to achieve the best possible results. The Board operates under the aegis of HRH Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdulaziz - Governor of the Aseer Region. Its membership includes His Excellency, the Rector of King Khalid University, as the Vice-President, and major contribution roles by the Vice Dean for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research, the Dean of Scientific Research at King Khalid University, the Director of the Research and Studies Department at the King Khalid Foundation, the Executive of the King Khalid Charity Foundation and the Supervisor of the King Khalid Scientific Research Chair. There is a scientific committee formed by resolution of the Rector, which is responsible for the scientific and research affairs in addition to other assigned tasks.
Dr. Al Faea concluded by saying that the Chair is working on activating its vision, mission, and goals through the means of modern social networking, Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. He said, "It is our pleasure when you share your constructive visions and suggestions that contribute to the development of the work of the chair." He thanked HRH Prince Faisal Bin Khalid, Governor of the Aseer Region and the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Chair. He also thanked King Khalid University Rector, Prof. Dr. Faleh Bin Rajaa Allah Al-Solamy and the King Khalid Charity Foundation for supporting the Chair.
The King Khalid Chair for Scientific Research was established on April 24, 2006, and it was the first scientific research chair at the University. The chair was established according to Article (18/20) of the Higher Education Council and Universities System in accordance with the resolution of the Council of King Khalid University No. (2 - 3 - 1425/1426 e) taken at the third session of the academic year 25 / 1426H, held on 3/3/1426 AH.
It is worth mentioning that many scientific meetings have been presented over the years. Each session was concerned with aspects related to the vision of the chair, its mission, and objectives, as follows:
- First scientific forum: Scientific Research on King Khalid - may God have mercy on him.
- The second meeting entitled, “The Economic Development of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia During the Reign of King Khalid Bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud.”
- The third meeting entitled, “Scientific and Cultural Movement in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during the Reign of King Khalid bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud.”
- The fourth meeting, which will be held at the university campus from 4-5 Rabe Al-Awal 1439 AH, under the title: "Social Aspects in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Under the Reign of King Khalid Bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud."
Among the projects implemented by the Chair is the financing of a number of research projects that serve the Chair's direction, and the spreading of a number of publications as follows:
- A Record of the First Scientific Meeting of the History of King Khalid Bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud.
- Development of Health Services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
- King Khalid bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud - An Analytical Study of his Leadership Approach.
- Education in the Mountainous Areas of Jazan During the Reign of King Khalid Bin Abdul-Aziz.
- The Scientific Record of the Meeting of the 12th Saudi Historical Society Held in the Aseer Region: Aseer History and Civilization Through the Ages.
