Under the auspices of the Rector of King Khalid University, Dr. Faleh Bin Rajaa Allah Al Solamy, the University will organize a Symposium on the knowledge economy and its developmental role in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Tuesday, 21 Rajab, in the central Stands at its headquarters in Abha.
Al-Solamy explained that this seminar came from the university's belief in its developmental role and its social responsibility, including the holding conferences, symposiums and forums, and supporting scientific research. The purpose is to move the development wheel forward which is cherished by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz (may Allah protect him), His Crown Prince and Crown Deputy Prince (may God preserve them all). Rector Al-Solamy said, "In this sense, the University, represented by the College of Administrative and Financial Sciences, is pleased to hold a seminar on" Knowledge Economy and its Development Role in Saudi Arabia, "in recognition of the role and importance of knowledge as a key driver of production and economic growth. And as a response to the national strategy of the Kingdom in 2030 Vision which aspires to make the Kingdom a knowledge-based community within knowledge-based economy, prosperous and diverse economy, led by productive human capacities and different sectors, to cope with the changes of current economic conditions"
In turn, the Vice-President of the University and the Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Symposium, Dr. Mohammed Al-Hassoun, explained that this Symposium aims at explaining and clarifying the conceptual and theoretical framework of the knowledge economy, identifying the reality and indicators of the knowledge economy in the Kingdom, identifying the basic pillars of knowledge economy and the role of the government and the private sector in supporting knowledge economy. Moreover, the symposium aims at identifying developmental role of the Saudi knowledge economy, in addition to the role of universities and research institutions in building the knowledge economy, and reviewing the most important international experiences in the transition to the knowledge economy, to apply for the Saudi status, in addition to identifying challenges and requirements of the transition to the knowledge economy, and provide a vision to support and stimulate the knowledge economy in the Saudi economy.
For his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences, who is also the Chairman of the Scientific Committee, Dr. Fayez Bin Dhafra, stressed that the world, nowadays, is witnessing a remarkable transformation towards knowledge and information to use it in the production of goods and services in all aspects of multiple, renewable, and diverse human activity. He said that the knowledge economy is one of the most important features of the development witnessed by the Kingdom in recent years, and this interest has increased significantly in the light of the national transformation program 2020 and the vision of the Kingdom 2030. He stated, "The Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences of King Khaled participates in holding this symposium, believing in its role in the service of society, and its active participation in harnessing all their energies and capabilities to participate in community issues, in discussion and propose appropriate solutions to them"
It is noteworthy that the symposium topics include knowledge economy indicators in the Kingdom and its basic technical pillars, and the role of government and the private sector in supporting the knowledge economy, in addition to the role of universities and research institutions in building a knowledge-based economy, and the challenges of transformation requirements towards the knowledge economy, and the role of the development of the knowledge economy, the most important international experiences and take advantage of them in the Saudi condition.
