Under the auspices of His Royal Highness, Prince Faisal bin Khalid bin Abdul Aziz, the Governor of Asir region, the 6th International Conference on developments of the spine was inaugurated yesterday. The event was organized by the Saudi Spine Society for Neurosurgery, in cooperation with the King Khalid University (KKU), the Central Hospital of Asir, and the Saudi Society of backbone. The event also which took place in Abha Palace Hotel, was attended by king Khalid University vice president for health specialties, Dr. Khalid Al Jalban.
The vice Dean for Clinical Affairs at the Faculty of Medicine of King Khalid University, who is the chairman of the Conference, the Assistant Professor, and the Consultant Neurosurgery, Dr. Ibrahim Alnami, has confirmed that the conference had worked on raising the scientific and knowledge level, and on developing the level of those who work in the field of spinal care. Dr. Alnami further indicated that the conference gave the opportunity to the participation of specialists in this field from various regions of the Kingdom, with their ideas and their experiences, so as to strengthen cooperation among themselves and to encourage them to focus on scientific research for the development of the field of spinal care, in addition to following the latest scientific and technical developments reached by the interested companies in the field, and transmitting the spirit of competition among them.
For his part, the member of the Saudi Society for Neurosurgery, who is also the Neurosurgery Consultant in, "Johns Hopkins Aramco Medical" Center, Dr. Salah Abdulrahman Al Akkad, thanked King Khalid University, and the Central Hospital of Asir, for the participation in the organization of the conference. He stressed that the Saudi Society for Neurosurgery has guaranteed the holding of this conference annually, because of its importance, which participated in the establishment of the Saudi Society for spine surgery, which came in parallel with the vision of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia - Vision 2030.
It is noteworthy that the Conference was accompanied by a medical exhibition in this regard, as well as workshops for students in medical schools.
