The President of King Khalid University (KKU) Prof. Dr. Falah bin Raja Allah Al Solamy, has received in his office, the chairman of Saudi Society for Medical Education, Dr. Ali Al Ali, and the members of the Society. At the beginning oftheir meeting, His Excellency President Al Solamy welcomed the chairman of the Council of Saudi Scientific Society for Medical Education and its members. The President praised the leading role of the society. Then, his Excellency held a meeting with the members of the Assembly in the presence of KKU Vice President Prof. Dr. Khalid Al Jalban. After that, the President listened to a brief historical review about the society and its achievements during the past period. In the meeting, the President confirmed the university complete support of the Society to achieve its goals. In turn, the Chairman of the Saudi Society for Medical Education, Dr. Ali Al Ali, has explained that the Society was one of the KKU supervised societies and it was founded in 2002, with its main task to care and develop the medical education in the Kingdom. It has also signed an agreement of cooperation with the European Society for Medical Education. Moreover, it sponsors a scientific journal specializing in medical Education in Saudi Arabia. This is in collaboration with the European Society and with the support of al-Khouri chair for medical education in Al Imam University. Furthermore, the society has signed previously a memorandum of understanding with the Joint Council for Health Services. Additionally, the society sponsors - in cooperation with the Committee of Medical Colleges' Deans in the Kingdom - the international Conference on medical Education, which is held every two years in one of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA)- Medical Colleges. Dr. Ali further said: "the next Saudi International Medical Education Conference (SIMEC) will be held in Tabuk University in 2018.The Society has many activities in the various regions of the Kingdom through its offices in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam." Dr. Ali added, " The Society has held its second meeting of the fourth session at the university campus, where many topics have been discussed. Such topics included: Find the appropriate and effective means to achieve our vision to be the home of the experience for medical education in the Kingdom, activate the society website on the official university portal, activate the membership, put the appropriate regulations, form the subsidiary committees to ensure the achievement of the goals, find the suitable means to provide the financial self-support for society, and explore the possibility of expanding the circle-interest of the society to include all branches of medical education in the Kingdom." It is worth to mention the meeting was attended by: the chairman of the current session of the society, Prof. Dr. Ali Al Bin Ali, as well as the members of the council namely: Dr. Abdulaziz Al Amri, Dr. Abdullah Al Sabani both are from (King Khalid University), Dr. Shorog Aju from King Abdulaziz University, Dr. Amer Al Alma'i from Ministry of Health, Dr. Saeed Al Sare'ei, from Najran University, and Dr. Khalid Al Shahat from Taibah University. In conclusion, the Chairman and members of the Council have expressed their thanks and appreciation to King Khalid University represented by its President, and vice president, for the generous hospitality and the great support the society receives from the university administration.
